I knew this was going to happen. Last video I commented on I said you were super late on doing splits, now I know why. If you don't have the equipment or the time, you need to down size. You're doing more work than you need to be doing. You could have half hives, less to manage, and still end up with the same amount of honey. Time management is key. 2 boxes of bees and 3 honey supers on top. No need to check on them till you're ready to harvest. You should look into selling our giving away some nukes, less stress on you and the bees

Hi Bruce, man the month of May was a stinker I had two full supers on and then May was wet and cold so the bees ate all their honey and went into swarm mode I was splitting hives catching swarms plus my bait hives were all catching and then no virgins got mated had to squish 8 dud virgin queens and buyin mated buckfast queens so at least I have new genetics in my apiary now June kicks off and our flow is in full mode and looks like where in for a great summer over here in the UK . Thank you Bruce mate for taking us along with you at your apiary.

That beekeeping looks easy in the south. Amazing how packed those nucs are. They are swarm machines for sure. Might want to consider all deeps would buy you alot more time. Nice an warm down there it would be fine I bet.
@brucesbees3 жыл бұрын
Well it’s not really “easy” per say. We have about 3 - 4 months of crazy busy bees and it’s really hard to keep up. Then it gets a little iffy. When this flow stops we are basically done with honey for the year and we typically have to deal with significant hive beetle infestations and the mites can ramp up very quickly. It gets hot and humid and the bees get cranky and “robby”. So we do what we can to keep them alive until next spring. I think every area has its own challenges. It has been really good so far down here this year for sure though. Amazing little critters. Thanks for checking in!

I can't believe someone said you are doing a bad job and should give your bees away. An asshole is made every second. This isn't pro tube this is you tube. This is average people trying to do things. Then putting it out there for people to view. So they watched the videos and then said stop doing what you are doing. That person can go to hell. You are doing a great job. This world has more amateurs than pros. Plus honey made by people like you taste far better than the pros. Keep doing what you are doing. I have enjoyed many great honey from people like you. Bruce, In the single Nuc colony that you supered, did you see day old eggs? You mentioned not seeing the queen but showed queen cells…I have a hard time finding queens sometimes and have to go on other clues for queen right status. Also, great job showing restructuring the double Nuc into a deep. Maintained the brood cluster and got the resource frames directly in contact with them.

Oh man I don’t know. Tallow is great for bees and beekeepers but everyone else hates the trees. Once established they spread like crazy and are nigh into impossible to kill from what I have heard. Tallow and privet…2 invasive species from China that are great for bees but a huge nuisance for everyone else. Let me think about it, but I am hesitant to send tallow seeds to another part of the country. I am not sure how they spread so efficiently but they do for sure, at least that is the case around here.
