Gen 7 rocks and the controversy it received was because of salty people who didn’t like the switch to new gen friendly (they’re kid friendlier games to reach a wide audience) They had new animations for character, better customization, hm removal, a heavier story line, a darker sub plot for adults, mini games scattered everywhere, probably the BEST designs for a generation ever, introduced the first legend to evolve, introduced new gimmicks, and paved the way to getting an open world game

The Ultra Necrozma battle theme, combined with the atmosphere of the fight (and the difficulty when I tried it legit instead of cheesing), made me absolutely fall in love with the thing. I’m calling it: give it a few more years or so, and Gen 7 will be the new Gen 5: a totally underrated generation that the entire fandom seems to hate , until the people who played it when they were kids (14yr olds now) grow up and go to college and get a job and realize, “damn those games were good” When that happens I’ll be here to welcome the boys home: excellent soundtrack, vibrant characters, unique Pokémon design/concepts, and the MOST BEAUTIFUL region in the entire series Gen 7 is excellent through and through. I’ve always been a fan and I’m just waiting for the community to catch up

Man I'm calling it too, gen 7 has ALWAYS been my favorite gen since launch, hands down no questions asked It's really slept on, the music, the story, the atmosphere, how wild it got with things, it's perfect in my eyes. It genuinely feels like the perfect send off for not only the 3DS era, but the handheld era as a whole. Plus, it came out when I was 9 and I got Sun for Christmas that same year, so I'm obviously biased, but my god do I adore the Alola region

Easiest way I found to beat Ultra Necrozma was with a Zeroark disguised as a fighting type, use a Roto Boost or two as it tries to use Photon crud and just wail on it. Battle usually lasts 3-5 turns

It added a lot of new quality of life changes and went had different changes that for a lot of the "Genwunners" kind of players really didn't like. Heavier presence of a story as well as a darker one, changing the whole gym leader thing with Totems and Kahunas up until you get the Elite 4 and Champion fight, really tough Totem Pokemon to replace Gym Leaders (Kalos Gym Leaders were cake walks, ORAS stayed pretty faithful to the original RS/Emerald teams and were maybe a little easier because of Experience Share, getting a chance to use two Legendaries in the game, etc). Rotom for people was especially annoying af in USUM. For people who play Pokemon for gameplay, its like the Gen 5 of the 3DS generation, while for people who love Pokemon and the universe of it, its an absolute treat. SM to me is more engaging, terrifying and more relarable than the traditional "stop middle aged guy from ending/taking over the world and being delusional " that was done over and over again for six generations straight.

I love the aliens, traveling through dimensions, the whole astral theme in general, the more traditional approach to stepping stones in your journey, and of course the nuke making necrozma. I remembered Necrozma being psychic, but i didnt know he woule only use his only Psychic move all the time... Only to have no effect on my disguised Zoroark. All that build up, for nothing. Rip
