You can make this mix and use it on any woodworking project. It will harden after a while, and you can then use it as paste wax. It consists of real bees wax, boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits (or turpentine).

Hi Julie, thank you for your subscription and comment! I usually go for 1 beeswax : 2 linseed oil : 2 mineral spirits. It hardens after a while and becomes a wax. If you have some rough wood you could make a thinner mix and pour it into all the cracks.

Because bees wax hardens when it cools off. You could experiment with a thinner mix.

Ah, yes, I saw your other video where you sand the table... that's what I thought... Great table... But the only 'amelioration' you could add to that is """ folding legs""" for transportation of the table... storing it for example in winter time... anyway great product.

I use the ratio 1 bees wax to 2 linseed + 2 mineral oil, and don't boil it, just melt it gently.

Best to melt the beeswax in a Bain-Marie which is a smaller pot sitting in hot water inside a larger pot. That way it’s safer and avoids fires. I make my beeswax/mineral oil paste this way for outdoor/indoor/food safe sealing. I first seal with Olympic Waterguard and then use this for extra protection

@@LuisCasstle I usually go 50/50 but if you want a more liquid consistency you can adjust the mineral oil to be 70% and beeswax 30% or however you want. I like Olympic Waterguard because it is dead simple to use, dries in about 10-15 minutes and dries without streaking. The paste just gives the finish a luxurious feel. Of course you’ll need to refinish with the Waterguard depending on weathering. I also use the paste on my kitchen cabinets especially those close to the kitchen faucet. Also, try using beeswax pellets instead of buying blocks. Makes the job a lot easier. Amazon is your best bet. I use bulk pure white beeswax pellets.

@@LuisCasstle Sorry, I misunderstood your question. I use Waterguard as my primary exterior weather seal. The paste won’t last too long outdoors but I use it anyway on my bench every six months that I originally sealed with the Waterguard. It gives it a nice refresh and a nice gloss.

Mr Makes sir after you finished cooking up your concoction the liquid was dark brown then in the next shoot for application it appears as a honey yellow. Is this because of the cool down period or was it a different mix ?

It's the same mix, but it hardens when it cools off.

hello sir, if the composition of making beeswax by mixing boiled linseed oil, turpentine, beeswax, minwax poly, can this be done? and what is the final result when applied to wood?

Yes I have tried to add a little poly to the mix also, it worked out fine. The trick is to make a mix that will harden well enough, and for the extra finish you could consider using a soft pad on a random orbit sander to work the mix into the wood. It's bees wax mate. You won't find anything more food safe than that. Not even paint.

You can use D-limonene as your solvent instead of mineral spirits or thinner. You can also use Tung oil instead of boiled linseed but that last one is personal preference. You can even kick it up a notch by adding 5-10% carnauba wax for added durability and hardness. Carnauba wax is like 10 to 20 times harder then beeswax so if you want to apply by hand you have to go easy. Now if you want to use a buffing tool go crazy. More all natural finishing stuff is shellac. As your base coat in whatever tint you want. Don't buy it in store make your own with 190 proof alcohol bought from the wine store. Lots of candy have shellac and carnauba wax on them so they don't melt in your hands.

@@JesperMakes Hey Jesper. Works good as soon as you get your carnauba dialed in. In the beginning I tried to replace half of the beeswax. Disaster lol. Gets that's more if you really want to do buffing like car. My only other natural trick is in USA we can buy 190 proof alcohol so I use that when I mix my own shellac. Shellac base coat with beaswax oil mixture goes together like coffee and diary. I really want to convert to using hide and fish glue instead of pva glue. But the price is so much higher. I used it on a small coaster project. I can see clean up is so much easier. Needs minimum clamp pressure because hide glue sticks to itself. And you can stain right over it unlike pva. You channel brings so much joy! Thank you
