Recorded on June 6, 1945, presumably in New York City, on Columbia 78-rpm matrices XCO 34904 through XCO 34907. Issued early in 1946 as Columbia Masterworks set X-258 (records 70707-D and 70708-D), and in automatic sequence as MX-258 (records 70709-D and 70710-D). There does not appear to have been an LP reissue.
Beethoven's Cello Sonata No. 5 is in three movements:
1. Allegro con brio
2. Adagio con molto sentimento d'affetto (at 4:38)
3. Allegro fugato (at 12:03)
