Wow, the one of the most impressive Pathetique. So precise and emotional!

I love your analyses, especially of Beethoven's sonatas. I wish you would do some more of those in the future :) Greetings from Slovakia :)

Hi Clive, thank you very much for the time and effort you are putting into making these videos. I really like that you detail how to bring the most out of each piece using the pedal and different phrasing etc. The pacing of the tutorials and your presentation is just right and easy to follow. I also like the different camera angles you use, many channels on KZbin just show a pair of hands, I think your style is more personal. Well done on creating a very professional and entertaining channel. I look forward to hearing you play and analyse more pieces.

Hi Clive, yes!! How did you get It?😊 Are you coming here in Italy one day?

Stefano is an Italian name, so i guessed! No, unfortunately no plans at present to come to Italy. I've been there twice in the last ten years though, and looking forward to coming again. It's my favorite European country. Where do you live?

Hello Clive, Fortunately, I just discovered your Channel. Your tips/instruction for the 'agitato' section of Moonlight Sonata were just what I was looking for.Thank you! I'm wondering if you could post a similar tutorial on the 1st movement - the Allegro motto e vivace section. Particularly the sempre legato (Bar 89 - 140). I just can't seem to make it sound musical, and my arms and wrists stiffen upafter a few bars. I can hear how it's supposed to sound but can't seem to play it. Thanks for your help, Maurice North of Boston

Thanks Maurice, I'm not sure which piece you are having problems with. Do you mean the first movement of the Pathetique Sonata? In which case I do have a tutorial on that.

@@pianoinsights6092 No, I'm sorry. It's Sonata Quasi Una Fantasia op 27 no.1 (Bar 89 - 140) end of the Allegro motto e vivace section. Particularly the sempre legato - the last of the 3⁄4 section. Thanks

First practice both hands TOGETHER (ie note against note) legato concentrating on the smoothness and wispiness of the sound, and even consistent rhythm. Then split the hands up, but keep it legato. If you have trouble with this, imagine the right hand being on the beat and the left hand providing the upbeats, (which you could also think of as grace notes). Only when you are comfortable with both hands legato, start playing the left hand staccato but not with the wrist, only with the fingers moving the same as in legato but 'escaping' them from the keys faster to create the staccato. This way you won't stiffen up. Do not bounce the wrist. Let me know how you get on.

Beautiful rendition. The crossing hand part I always hit the wrong keys and feels very much in a rush. Would be nice if you can make a tutorial for that part. :)
