I love barenboim. I feel like the idea of the music comes through so clear with his playing.

There are several recordings of this man playing this sonata, and this is the best, his second movement was slower and brilliantly executed, over the years he has got closer to Brendel’s tempi, seemingly they are in agreement

My very first year of college and I would be working a tall, "slightly elderly" gentleman who I still did not know well and he assigned me to learn this entire work. I don't think he was all that surprised (as I was also working on other works by Bach and others) but I memorized the entire work and at the end of the year I played the entire work from memory --just slower in the fast sections then this guy can! ---I forgot to mention that was in 1968-69.

Spavakosky’s version set the standard for this music. If you haven’t heard it, you’ll be glad when you look it up.
