1st horn cracks too many notes, the other 2 play grea though

Horn cracks and splits happen to every horn player from time to time. If someone claims otherwise, they're not being truthful. These mishaps can occur for various reasons, such as a long rehearsal just before a performance, feeling off, illness, or other personal circumstances. From experience, I can tell you that no one cares more about those cracked notes than the horn player. He will be beating himself up about it for a while, which can lead to unnecessary stress and, in some cases, illness. So, give him a break.

It is possible to play without cracks, especially in big solos, yes it is challenging but it is your job to play the horn isn’t it? so why should i cut them some slack when they mess up? I’m a horn player too and have been playing principle horn for many years now. Yes mistakes happen but in big moments you should sound your absolute best

Most of the time, he would probably nail it. However, this particular time he didn't, and someone decided to post it on KZbin for the world to comment on. We are not AI; we are human beings, and humans make mistakes. If you have never missed a few notes in a big solo, your time will come. Hopefully, no one will post it on KZbin for the world to see. As professional horn players, we have one of the hardest jobs out there, and we should learn to empathize with each other.

I know we are supposed to focus on the horns but it's difficult when the soprano is so terrible.

@@Icedmanta I don't think he is going to answer or objectively for that matter, he is most likely trolling. As for your question, the answer is simple just listen more! See if you can find a student audition version of this piece or college singers and compare it to professional opera singers and you will slowly start to hear and get a better understanding of the quality of musicians.
