I agree with N. Matthews: "the best opening I’ve ever heard of this concerto". But the rest of the concerto was at the same level. What a rich sound, so reminiscent of David Oistrakh! A rendition that transmits all the calm, the serenity, beauty and joy of this masterwork. I have listen many passages in a completely new way. Great dialogue with the orchestra. Wonderful audio; unfortunately poor camera work.

I agree with you. The seriousness, concentration and focus of the sound remind me of Oistrakh. It is strange today to find those attributes in young violinists.

@@uaxacoc I think perhaps not as much as you think. Today's young violinists have at their disposal many recordings of Heifetz, Oistrach, Elman, Nevoux, Milstein, etc. And I think that's it feels like there is more variety in violinists sound again !!

Honestly the best opening I’ve ever heard of this concerto. Blows away Kavakos, Vengerov, all the other big time soloists. Hope you’re playing with Berlin and Cleveland soon man

That must be some crazy unbreakable Unicorn hair on your bow, not a single hair broke during 44:40 - end of cadenza! This is some crazy good and intense playing!! 👏👏

This concerto is really a bunch of scales and arpeggios but so superbly crafted that it became the foundation, inspiration and father of all the great romantic concertos, in my opinion.

Listening to how Kerson Leong plays this concerto made me realise why Beethoven only wrote one for the violin. This has to be the greatest violin concerto of all times, Beethoven surely imagined it played like this and knew he could never write another. Dies ist der Vollendung.

Watching you perform has revived my love of classical music and concerts that was dead or dormant for over 20 years. With the recent birth of my baby daughter, I try to look through her new eyes and that in combination with your zeal and passion and focus for the love and perfect and beautiful manifestation of music, has changed everything for me. Thank you Kerson.

First time I’ve been able to listen to this whole concerto through. I was riveted to my seat by the uniquely exciting nuances, detailed individual note structure and projection, intensity of emotion (but not movement), infinite invitation to the audience to watch the humble creation of beautiful art and colour...I have been given a gift. Thank you Kerson, what a gorgeous performance! One of my favourites to date!

I very rarely comment on youtube vids, but what can I say? An absolutely stunning performance, Kerson. What a wonderful sound you make, thanks to that beautiful bowarm and exhilarating vibrato from a constantly active and adaptive left hand. I love the commitment and nobility in your playing and comparisons with the legendary David Oistrakh are spot on.

Lovely and especially superb intonation from the soloist....but the bass section sounds like they all took codeine shots before the concert...toothless and fraction late all the time...not the acoustics but the core of the sound.
