There are a lot of fish in there that wanted a piece of the beetle spin!

Crappie are hard to find at times, except in the winter when they suspend over deep water typically in the middle of the lake. So it's possible other times you've fished out there you just weren't in the right spots to catch them. But hey, The beetle spin for you is what the Mighty Mite jig is for me!

I should give a mighty mite a try.

Awesome camera work at 15:02. A swing and miss for the Pike.

Stupid (or should I say smart) pike ran right into the lily pads. I had no chance!

You going to get back into some of the creeks soon?
@tiefsa2 жыл бұрын
NEXT WEEK! I'll have a video where I'm creek fishing. Some bigguns are in this creek though because it connects to a lake.

@@tiefsa Cool, looking forward to watching it.

Hard to beat the bang for the buck you get out of beetle spins.

They are cheap and effective!

Rough when they take you immediately into the lilies and wrap themselves up in them. That's how I've lost countless Bowfin over the years
@tiefsa2 жыл бұрын
That's too bad. I'd love the chance at a bowfin. I've heard they're in this swamp lake.

@@tiefsa Use a heavier setup with tight drag, chop up a sunfish and toss it on a hook (the head works the best!). Make sure you're using a fluorocarbon or wire leader. Cast just on the edge of any of those patches of lilies and wait. You could use a bobber or just free-line it. Size 2/0 Circle or J-Hooks work great. Dawn or dusk are the best times generally but other times can also work

Great video! The quality is looking great these days. What do you use to attach the GoPro to your head/hat?
@tiefsa2 жыл бұрын
I duct taped it to the brim of an old hat!

How fast do the beetle spin normally sink per foot ?
@tiefsa Жыл бұрын
Depends on the size. The smallest size is 1/32 and that sinks about 1 foot per second. The size I was using 1/16 sinks about 2 feet per second. The most common size in the stores I see is the 1/8 ounce which sinks about 3 feet per second. Then finally, the biggest size is 1/4 which sinks around 4 feet per second (this is all without reeling)
