Watching this video sure gave me the "bug" to get out and do some fishing. The beetle spin is a lure that I was not familiar with. I wonder how that would do with our fish species here. Perhaps i should find out. Thumbs up.

Far North Bushcraft And Survival Lonnie I think it will do very well. I live in Illinois and this is a lure that catches almost every thing. Cast and retrieve. Good luck
@blackhatbushcraft4 жыл бұрын
I always get that bug this time of year :) The water's edge just calls to me on the warm afternoons. I would definitely recommend trying it Lonnie. These lures seem to appeal to almost anything that swims. I have caught speckled trout, flounder, sunfish, bass, crappie, pike, rock fish, red drum, etc. I think I even recall a catfish caught on a beetle spin. They are amazing little baits. I hope you get to go fishing soon my friend! Thank you for tuning in and commenting!

Thank you so much John! I also get sentimental about fishing because it is timeless. It is one of those things that hasn't really changed. It works the same today as it did when we were kids. It is like going back to the joy of childhood in many ways. Take care John!

Great video. I been using those for years. A good selection of Beetle Spins, small soft plastics, and jig heads and you can pretty much custom make any bait you want in mere minutes if not less. I think myself I might have about 30-40 beetle spins of different sizes like you have, and added a slew of different jig heads to use with them. I see the ones you have are all Colorado blades, I think I might have a couple with small willow blades as well. The reasoning behind the different styles of blades is how much of a "thump" do you want the bait to make. In dirty water or lower light conditions, you might want to run the #2 Colorado blade because it makes the most noise. You have to remember is those conditions the fish are not so much keying in on the sight element of the bait, but more the sound or disturbance it makes. Just one last word on jig heads. Don't be afraid to experiment with different styles of heads with this system. Excellent as always Matt, hope yo don't mind me tossing this in the mix as well. Be well and safe buddy.

Great vid with great tips! I use the Beetle Spin, Mepps spinners, and Bitsy Bug 1/4 jig and I have fun with all sizes of fish! Ultra lite set up I go with Lews spinning reels UglyStik rods and I use the Beetle Spin, Trout Magnet with a 2 inch Gulp minnow, or Nikko helgamite lure. Fishing is so much fun! You may have to a few more fishing vids this spring and summer to the channel.
@blackhatbushcraft4 жыл бұрын
I was very curious how this one would be received. I had several ideas for a couple of others to film. I don't currently own a Lew's rod however, I have looked at them and they have a very nice feel to them. I would love to try one. Berkley Gulp lures will definitely catch fish!! The Gulp saltwater series has been my go to for years now. I love casting the Gulp pogies and shrimp with a lead head around bridges and around points for inshore fishing. They have caught countless trout, flounder, Spanish, and even cobia for me. Thanks for your kind words and for tuning in my friend!

Cool vid. You know I like the roadrunner jig ,spinner too. they are more compact to put into a small fish kit. but There hard to find today. Also here is my survival combo a tiny torpedo with a dropper of a wet fly or nymph. The torpedo works as weight and the bobber . The wet fly gets the panfish the torpedo gets the big ones lol.

You just brought back some great memories, thank you. I used to put something furry between the head and body and the "furry grub" worked great too. What line do you like best?
@blackhatbushcraft4 жыл бұрын
That is a good idea! I have some jigs that are sort of made that way. I may have to try that. As for line, I have used so many different things, it depends on the rod/reel combo. On these ultralight rods, I often use Stren 4lb test with good results. I have used cajan line actually and I have been happy with that. On my inshore saltwater rods, I like to use braid with a flurocarbon leader. That is so sensitive, you can almost feel the fish smelling the lure lol. Thanks for tuning in Rich!
@TACHILL4 жыл бұрын
My passion!! Haha love feeshin it up! I use ultra light jigs alot... 3-3/2 size with squid skirts for most panfish . Trout love em!! but my always go to will be a curlytail grub... use em for the bigguns and the small ones. Great video brother!

@@blackhatbushcraft Its a little late this year, by now most of the fish have returned to the ocean. But next year starting about the 3rd week in February going through late April they should be all over the place. Ive had a lot of luck around battle park and near the boat ramp in Tarboro.

To all young anglers and some pros out on the water, please?, DON'T sleep on the beetle spin. Im 48, i got into bass fishing around 13, and let me tell you, when I couldn't catch bass on anything else, that kamakize (white beetle spin with the red dot) was a true winner. Through the years I've caught many a bass on a 1$ Walmart beetle spin more so than on all the high dollar lures I've had, and man I've had a dump truck load of em, when nothing else works, spin that beetle! Y'all have a great day fishing!
@blackhatbushcraft4 жыл бұрын
I hear that Ron! I have also owned a great many of artificial lures and I have fished them but nothing has been as productive on multiple species quite like a Beetle Spin. It is my go to almost every time! Thanks for watching and commenting! Take care and keep those lines tight :)
