Im presuming Otho screamed because, as a self-styled designer icon, an early 70s powder blue polyester leisure suit would be the equivalent of hell. Speaking of Otho, his throw away line at the dinner table explained the bureaucrats in the Netherworld: Miss Argentina had her "accident", Juno slit her throat, the people filing hung themselves... "You know what they say about people who commit suicide. In the afterlife, they become civil servants."

@@GalaxyGeeks, I want to tell you about 2 actors in this movie, Alec Baldwin who plays Adam Maitland and Jeffrey Jones who plays Charles Deetz in Beetlejuice are not nice in real life, on April 11 2007 Alec Baldwin left a voicemail message in response to an unanswered arranged call to his 11 year old daughter, he called her a rude thoughtless little pig, and Jeffrey Jones who played Charles Deetz, he was arrested in 2002 for possession of child pornography and soliciting a 14 year old boy to produce sexually explicit images between September 2000 and May 2001, in 2021 Jones was listed on the California Department of Justice National sex offender database

"Are you a ghost, too?" "I'm a ghost with the most, babe." Fun Fact: Michael Keaton, playing the title character, only appears in 14.5 minutes of the film. Music Enthusiast Fact: Tim Burton feared the Day-O (1956) by Harry Belafonte sequence wouldn't go over well, since in his opinion it wasn't very funny. He turned out to be wrong, audiences loved it and think of it as one of the film's most iconic scenes. Parapsychology Foreshadowing Fact: At the dinner party, Otho (Glenn Shadix) states that people who commit suicide end up as "civil servants" in the afterlife. This is actually expanded on in the film. The civil servant ghosts that Adam (Alec Baldwin) and Barbara (Geena Davis) meet are people who appear to have ended their own lives. The receptionist (Patrice Martinez) says she committed suicide, there is a man who hanged himself, and the crushed messenger (Carmen Filpi) is implied to have done it to himself. Juno (Sylvia Sidney) looks normal, but there are scars on her neck that indicate she cut her own throat. Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton) is said to have been a civil servant and Juno's assistant; it was going to be explained in the film that he hanged himself (incompetently and very painfully), due to heartbreak. While this was cut out of the film for running time purposes, it is hinted when Beetlejuice is surprised at Lydia (Winona Ryder) wishing to die.

The great thing about the "Banana boat song" scene is that any corpsing that happened would 100% be in line with the movie, so it wouldn't have been questions, but everyone stuck with taking it seriously

Her father just happened to overhear him sing his own name when walking in the woods. But with THAT said, this movie and the Beetlejuice character does seem reminiscent of Rumplestiltskin, right down to 3 being the magic number.

Betelgeuse is the correct way to spell his name. they only made the title of the movie beetlejuice because they knew everyone would get his name wrong. he's named after a star like most demonic or holy beings tend to be in most literature.

Alpha Centauri is the closest star. But it’s possible Betelgeuse may have supernova’d already and the light hasn’t had time to reach earth yet, but if it did, the light would get here in a young person’s lifetime. Constant Sun level brightness for a little while

I'm writing that my name is Josh and i'v been reading online that Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will have an official 4K HD digital release on Tuesday October 8, 2024. the digital release also include special features including a second version of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice with an audio commentary by Tim Burton. this means that everybody at home can do first time watching videos for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice beginning on Tuesday October 8, 2024. i can also confirm that there won't be deleted and extended scenes to be included on the 4K Bluray and DVD release on Tuesday November 19, 2024. that might be the exact same exact day that Beetlejuice Beetlejuice becomes available to stream on MAX.

The movie is only slow because your attention span has shrunken like Beetlejuice's head, due to the internet. The film moves very fast, just not for millennials and zoomers, who don't have patience.

I'm not either of the two reactors, who think the movie's slow. As an '80s child, I grew up with both it (it came out in 1988) & the follow-up animated series spinoff (1989-1992). I am among the last generation to grow up before the advent of the digital age, as personal computers didn't become commonplace in most people's homes until I had reached late junior high/early high school. I may spend a lot of time on the Internet nowadays, but I am not the streaming type, as I am not necessary fond of being on-camera (family photos excluded).
