CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Barbara (Geena Davis) and Adam (Alec Baldwin) find themselves trapped in the bureaucracy of the Netherworld. It's a lot like the DMV.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Thanks to the carelessness of a cute little dog, newlyweds Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin are killed in a freak auto accident. Upon arriving in the outer offices of Heaven, the couple finds that, thanks to a century's worth of bureaucratic red tape, they're on a long celestial waiting list. Before they can earn their wings, Davis and Baldwin must occupy their old house as ghosts for the next fifty years. Alas, the house is now owned by insufferable yuppies Catherine O'Hara and Jeffrey Jones. Horrified at the prospect of sharing space with these obnoxious interlopers, Davis and Baldwin do their best to scare O'Hara and Jones away, but their house-haunting skills are pathetic at best. In desperation, the ghostly couple engage the services of a veteran scaremeister: a yellow-haired, snaggle-toothed, profane, flatulent "gonzo" spirit named Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton). They talked earlier about how people who commit suicide become civil servants in the after life so miss Argentina’s line about “if I knew them what I know now I wouldn’t have had my little accident” as in if she had know that she would become a civil servant for the rest of eternity she wouldn’t have committed suicide it’s crazy how much detail is in this movie

I would actually enjoy seeing a follow-up, seeing how Lydia and her family made out and see the Maitlands again, but how would that even work other than maybe some de-aging effects? Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis are of course over 30 years older and that wouldn't make sense in the context of them being spirits. The sequel would have to just show them in flashbacks or something.

I first saw this movie on Memorial Day 2018 since of course as a young child I never fully appreciated Tim Burton films since they were scary to me. But after looking at this movie as an adult I must say I really admire the special effects makeup and the meaning of this story.
