So, I know it sounds crazy, but the only thing in his rant that's a lie is him attending Juliard. There's a clip they released online that shows Betelgeuse alive and evading plague doctors while robbing a mass grave before meeting his wife who eventually poisoned him, which is why his ghost looks like that. She's missing her left ring finger in the new movie. Remember Lydia's ring? He pulled it off a woman's severed finger in the first movie's wedding scene? That's his first wife's finger. That one sliver of a connection makes so much of what he said in the first movie true.

Counterpoint: he is a bio-exorcist, and was doing a damn fine job but the Maitlands chickened out. Then he holds up his end of the bargain with Lydia, and kind of gets screwed over. Not saying he's good or in the right, but in his deranged mind, he was doing what was asked of him, and wanted what he's owed. But, he isn't bitter about it afterward, as seen in the waiting room. He truly is the ghost with the most.

Marrying a living human only allows him to stay in the world of the living for an extended period of time. It doesn’t actually bring him back to life. His attempts to marry a living girl have never worked and he’s desperate to get Lydia to marry him because that’s the closest he ever got. he wants a living wife so he can hide from Delores.

And having been an Afterlife Civil Servant, he probably was never bound by these aforementioned Geological Parameters and Temporal Parameters for Hauntings.

SPOILERS As it turns out, Juiceman was in fact alive during the black plague and would rob the corpses of the people who died due to the disease and that’s how he met his ex-wife, Dolores, and he died on their wedding night (a very barbaric wedding at that) due to her poisoning him because she was the leader of a cult that desired immortality. But before he succumbed to the poison he took Dolores out with an axe.

As others have mentioned, his origin is revealed in the sequel. As for how he lived through future events after his death, he does have the ability to possess the living. After watching the new movie, I don't think that Beetlejuice actually wants to fully return to life, but that he likes Lydia enough to play this game with her and only with her. I also believe that parts of Cartoon Beetlejuice were incorporated into Sequel Beetlejuice. He isn't fully evil, but he is very malicious, and does somewhat, in his own way, care for Lydia and her family. He had every opportunity to prey on Lydia's mom and daughter, but chose not too. He even exposed a certain someone who was preying Lydia, and he didn't ever fully stop Lydia from doing what she wanted to do.

SPOILERS He also didn't have to send the dude preying on Astrid to Hell. I don't think he did it just for laughs, either. I think he genuinely likes Lydia in his own twisted way and just enjoys playing with her. He doesn't seem angry when she crosses him, more darkly excited. The game continues. I grew up on the cartoon, so watching them team up and seeing him do a solid for Lydia and Astrid without being asked made me happy. It felt like a nice and believable mixing of the movie and the cartoon.

In the scene we get to see Beetlejuice and Dolores meet, and what is Dolores wearing. A plaque doctor outfit. While Beetlejuice is in a grave full of people. I forgot the name of it but during the black plaque multiple bodies would be tossed into a pit. So that can be confirmed.

One of the versions of the "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" film trailers did show that BJ's ex-bride was missing a finger; We have not seen any other character in the entire franchise to have actually lost a finger except BJ(technically it was his whole hands in the series). The skin tones used for the characters that we see in the movie sequel's trailers are a little more on the cartoonish side than the skin tones that were originally used in the first film, which would explain why the missing finger from the first movie is of a different coloration than the color of the Ex-Bride's from the sequel's Trailer .

He's well aware of his appearance and outright honest about his personality-- he'll "do anything" and "has no rules"-- he openly states these himself. Therefore, all that stuff about college education and modeling contracts-- it comes off much more as self aware sarcasm than any actual attempt at a genuine lie. The same applies to his telling Lydia he has friends to meet. His very TONE is blatantly telling her "look, we both know this is bullshit, who even cares?" It's also during that scene when he tells her openly that he doesn't even live by any actual rules of his own. There's a lot wrong with the guy, I'm sure he has lied and even still does-- but it doesn't seem to be an actual particular habbit-- he's just very situational aware. Kinda like Trevor's line in one of the early submersible missions of GTA V; "Now don't you go quiet on me or else I'll come around there and I'll...... well, we both know what I'm talkin' about."
