DIY modules have been my path because I love the idea of knowing how my modules work, as well as create modifications to each without feeling like I'm ruining someone else's handiwork.

Looks awesome. It brings a unique soundscape, which I guess makes it perfect for eurorack.

I just want to reiterate soldering and DIY ... always practice on something you don't want to keep if you have never soldered before. I recommend building some XLR and 5 pin DIN cables first, maybe a cable testing box as your 1st project, so you can troubleshoot your cables in the future. :)
@BoBeats

Great advice there. I built cables a long time ago but I really can't remember how. Should be a great start!

FWIW, soldering cables / connectors tends to be quite different from PCB soldering. You can use a giant iron tip and be all kinds of sloppy. But workholding is much harder. 99% of the difficulty of soldering comes down to workholding, having a good temperature-controlled iron, and having an appropriately-sized tip. The actual technique is super easy.

Haze Anderson - I’d recommend the Baby8 sequencer kit for soldering practice. Very cheap and a nice useful source for cv modulation!

I started on circuit bending cheap kids toys which I killed a few. Then guitar pedal kits and mods. Then I discovered eurorack kits and by that point I was pretty knowledgeable. Now I have 6 racks and I saved (some) money doing it diy. I had one issue with a build and the manufacturer (Elby) was super helpful in helping my discover my error. It’s very rewarding to build your own stuff and understand the electronics end of it.

My vote: Minibrute 2S, its the one semi that you really can grow with since it has such a deep sequencer

Happy ending service....,I know that from going to the thai massage! 🤭😉 Bo you have the same idea as me, going to places you normaly would not go. Thats why I want to go modular one day, but the dowside is that it’s expensive, I will probably do also some diy but not the smd ones there very difficult. Great video again...,you are really entertaining! ✌️👍

The "K" in knurlies is silent. Comes from knurl -- the texturing around the grip part of the screw. Not sure what the German word is, but the translators say "Rändel", which doesn't translate back correctly.

You are reminding me of the touche... The Touche is a beautiful thing. I just watched a video today of Roger Linn, Dave Smith, and Tom Oberheim all on stage interviewed. Roger Linn kept talking about how expressive controllers are the future. I like both the Touche and the Madrona Labs Soundplane. If you advertise for the Soundplane, they might get enough momentum to make it more than just mac os...

Soundplane looks very cool. Not sure I could do it justice tho

Happy to see you plug the good guys and girls of Befaco. I see this CrushDelay is modded. Did you try the unmodded version before this one? I use the module quite a lot more since I added that mod... much better handling and the best crunch 😊🤘

Really cool. Love the use of the expression pedal. I appreciate the focus on musicality in modular. Quite often so much of modular is just very expensive bleeps and bloops (tho there is a place for that). How about looking into the intellijel Metropolis?

@Natemasterflex
@Natemasterflex 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply. I’ve built 9 modules so far, but no Befaco stuff yet. I was just wondering some stuff about the build. You could easily solder modules together Bo. It’s very easy, the only issue is how good the instructions are.
@BoBeats
@BoBeats 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the vote of confidence. I am actually thinking it could be a fun episode watching me possibly fail at this
@Natemasterflex
@Natemasterflex 6 жыл бұрын
Haha, just make sure to do time lapse, it usually takes anywhere from 3-16 hours to build a module. Depending on the complexity of course. You would succeed, especially if you watch a ten minute “how to solder” video first.

@@BoBeats It's good to see you acknowledge that it's a drug. Most people wouldn't, and don't think of caffeine as a drug; same with alcohol and nicotine. It's a weird sort of funny (but mostly sad) how the most easily obtainable and legal drugs in most countries are also some of the most toxic.
