My uncle had one of these. Same wide body. It was from Germany , and he got it from a police auction in nyc. We restored it , changed to color to red , and it was sold to a wealthy person in the middle east.

@@daltonhanleyjr4142 if that was true that would be crazy. It was from an nyc police auction, and we were told the car sat there for 5 years because of legal issues. It was 95 or 96 if I recall it correctly. Up to that point it was the most amazing car I've ever seen. The rear tires took weeks to find and it was as big as the dodge vipers rear tire. I will try and look up this person.

I have to say, I've never been a fan of the 928...until I saw this one! This is a very tastefully done (as long as you love wild 80s and 90s widebody conversions, and they're my favorites of all time....IMSA, anyone?) widebody, and I would cherish it forever, too.

I remember in my early years seeing a DP Motorsports shop on Pacific Coast Highway South Bay (Hermosa/Manhattan Beach area?) in Southern California, near where I grew up. LOVED driving by there and looking at the Porsches (mostly 911s) being worked on. Even parked my car nearby when I got my license and walked by a few times, to stop and gawk at the amazing works of art. I believe it closed some time in the late 90’s Never knew DP was a German based company, like the Rufs I use to see in magazines. I thought it was just an independent tuning shop.

The exterior door vents are necessary for keeping the door jams from overheating. 😂 Back in the 80’s, I remember how most every product designer was looking to include Testarossa vents in their products 😂. The vents make perfect sense on a Testarossa, because the radiators are located forward of the rear wheels….its function AND form, not form over function.

Love the 928 wide body. That car needs a much stronger engine to match its exotic good looks. Either a supercharger on the 928 engine would be a better step up but still marginal hp or a Chevy LT4 crate engine (650 hp) in that engine bay. As good as that car looks and it looks awesome I say put a modern power plant in her. Do her justice. Very cool video and love that 928 !

Beautiful automobile. DP motorsports should recreate this kit. 928 is on my list to acquire this year.One of my friends mother in NW DC had an automatic and we would race through rock creek park and 16th street in early 90's .

That plastic cover under the windscreen is super thin and tears easily. Not sure why Porsche did this. The 928 trivia was fairly accurate. Great to see a DP.. Oh and the window motor sounded fine ;)

Cars seen: All of the Le Mans winning Porsche cars (or most, 1951 was a replica). 550 Spyder one number away from James Dean's. Have a think about that on the assembly line. 356 Continental, in Australia. Wow. And these are just some of the Porsches. And a bloke owned a 959 in my small, country hometown in the '90s! Truly remarkable, must have been 1 of only 2 in Oz.

This is at his house, and we didn't have time. And why? It's driven not hidden. As said in the video, it got filthy the day before, and we've got to film this quick and get down the bodyshop, where all the paint is getting ripped off anyway.

They're actually earlier. Just looked it up. These are the rears on a 87 to 95 so they must have updated the rear. 78 to 86 has a different rear end.

When, and why? You can't wash a black car quickly! As said in the video, we got back yesterday from a 500 mile round trip Porsche Meet and drive out on muddy roads, and we've got to film this quick as it's going in to have the paint ripped off...
