The engineer who manufactured this vehicle is considered one of the best in the world, the car is called a masterpiece. The 928 was the first to bring all the new equipment and paved the way for new inventions. Its futuristic style that will never go out of style. The story is unique, it is an award-winning car, also the only sports car to win the prestigious award. It has the world speed record, not only as a production car, but in the 24 hours of the Nardo ring in Italy for more than 10 years. Also this car crossed the entire world proving to be a true grand tourer

I own a blue 82 with phone dials and a silver 89s4 with 3 pcs staggered 18" wheels. The latter gets all the compliments as it still looks like a modern car. Issues vary by generation, but Porsche never got the chance to refine the 928 over the long run like the 911. But using 70's and 80's tech is the biggest issue. The electrics can be a pain because they used so many relays. The engine is very reliable but crammed into the design so shops hate working on them.. Vacuum leaks and cooling issues with the fans can crop up. Otherwise it's built like a tank ( It's crazy heavy ) If buying one, make sure the paint and Interior isn't trashed, Gremlins can be sorted out on 928 forums.

Not that heavy by today's standards! Especially the pre-S4 body style.

Great video!! I’ve owned my 86.5 928 for 27 years. It’s the best and most reliable car I’ve ever owned and I’ve also owned a 911! Great car but nothing in comparison to the 928!

The 928 was and remains a very cool car. It deserved better. And the original looks far better than the upcoming reboot version. The fact Porsche actually sold out to build SUV/crossovers is enough to make you lose your lunch.

I love the video, Though calling the 924 a failure wasn´t quite right, it sold around 150k units and saved porsche from bankruptcy in the oil crisis, as well as being the reason that Porsche believed that transaxles are the future. Also i do believe the 928 and and 924 were developed alongside. There was a time all the engineers at porsche drove a 928 and all of marketing drove a 911.

Thank you for your feedback, I guess with the 924 sales I was influenced to label it as a poor selling model by its mediocre performance leading to or relating to poor sales. Thank you for watching :)

928 has been on the cusp of becoming the new hype classic for the last 30 years... So yeah... The issue with the car at launch was its stratospheric price. The equivalent today is not quite the latest Bugatti, but it's up there; yes the 928 was that obscenely expensive, at least in Australia. The issue with the 928 today is that like any car designed with dynamics intented to keep its occupants alive, it is boring. The front engine and rear transaxle weight distribution was the way to get a stable high speed GT in the days before digital chassis controls. This worked great, especially with the then new passive rear wheel steering/toe-control first introduced on the 928.

@Dale_official10 ай бұрын
Yo, not trying to be like "Um ackchyually", but it does have a 4.6 Litre V8. You can see this on the Porsche website as linked here: www.porsche.com/stories/innovation/how-much-is-a-porsche-918-spyder If you scroll down and read section 4 you can find it there. I do understand the confusion though, it does seem like it would have a larger powerplant (like the V12 found in the LaFerrari). Thank you for watching the video, have a good day :)

You make an entire video about an iconic model and can't even say the name "Porsche" correctly. Even *_Jeremy Clarkson_* makes a point of using the correct pronunciation.
@Dale_official10 ай бұрын
Delivery and pronunciation is something I've been trying to work on as of late but some things do fall through the cracks. Outside of KZbin I do say Porsche the correct way but I suppose as I was recording it didn't really work out. I appreciate your feedback though and its something that I'll incorporate into the next video :)

4:20 - Sorry, no. The S4 had a 5-litre 32-valve motor, compared to the S which was 4.7 litres with 16 valves. How could you get such a basic fact wrong? You did not mention many of the world firsts the 928 had. Nor its difficult and expensive development. Sad.
@Dale_official10 ай бұрын
Thank you for your feedback, by the end of its lifespan in 1986 the S featured a 5.0 Litre V8 (not sure if its a 16 or 32 valve but I'd imagine it would be the latter). You can find this on the Porsche Website here: www.porsche.com/australia/accessoriesandservice/classic/models/928/928/ If you scroll down to the 928 S section you can find it there. In regards to the 928's innovations, I did try to emphasize the technological advancements it achieved but looking back I probably could have further discussed its development in the video. Thank you and have a good day :)

Wow, so much misinformation in one short video. Just some examples, the 924 was not a failure, it was a sales success that saved porsche at the time. It also was not cheap, compared to it's class rivals it was expensive. You quote 90hp as it's output, that was the USA market model, europe got 125hp. Then you quote the 1982 928S as 300hp that was for euro models, the USA only got 240hp. The USA 85 and 86 S, then the S4 had an extensively redesigned engine with 32 valves. The Nardone is a French resto rod version that to my eyes looks horrible.
@Dale_official7 ай бұрын
Thank you for your feedback, in regards to the 924 sales, I'd probably say I was swayed to label it as a poor selling model due to its mediocre performance specs, as well as it being a more entry-level car in the Porsche lineup. Speaking of specs, the US and Euro models being different was something I didn't realise when making the video, looking back on it, I don't know why I didn't just go on the Porsche website where it has the Euro specs and just stick with those. The 928 S and S4 engines was straight up my error, I think I got it confused for being the same on engine based on both having a 5.0 litre displacement. Thank you very much for bringing this to my attention, and have a good day :)
