@@AnthonyBurrito1313 - that's an interesting observation because the lore has it that they viewed punk as something of a threat. if you watch the '78 fort worth show 'some girls live in texas' i think there are some punk stylings going on and mick seems to be ratcheting up the menace and madness a bit. .

People assume Keith's open tunings made life easier for him, I would argue more complicated after viewing many of these Keith break downs. All relative. So much nuance. Keith was and is great.

hey all: 9-9-9-8 is indeed an Em, but that's often a difficult chord change. however 9-9-12 is also an Em, yet it's a much easier change. i'm no genius - i picked this up from the 'some girls' tab book and also ultimate-guitar.com. so do make note for future reference: 9-9-9-8 = 9-9-12. 5-5-5-4 = 5-5-8. x-x-x-(x-1) = x-x-(x+3).. i believe you may find this very handy when doing quick changes to a minor chord in open G. try it for the intro: 12-12-12-12-12 d 12-12-12-12-12 u 12-14-12-13-12 d 12-12-12-12-12 u 9-9-12 d 0-0-0 d /5/5/5 d 5-5-5 d 7-7-7 d 0-0-0-3 d for the verse: 10-10-10-10-10 10-10-10-10-10 9-9-12 9-9-12 5-5-5-5-5 5-7-5-6-5 5-5-5-5-5 5-5-5-5-5 ok - i hope that looks ok across youtube platforms. if it's a jumbled disaster perhaps someone can fix. i can assure you that this sounds great when played properly - and it totally eliminates the difficult chord change or needing to just play power chords for minors in open G. hope it helps, cheers! .

I remember when Keith got busted for Heroin possession after their gig at the El Mocambo in Toronto - where they recorded half of the Love You Live album. Around the same time the Prime Minister's wife ran off to New York with Ronnie Wood and the rest of the band. Great tune, thanks for the lesson.

Great bit in Life on this song, Keith mentions that nobody liked this song and he was in the studio for five days straight, "without a wink of sleep" working on it. I can see it when you share with us the mechanics of the song--it's not an obvious set of changes. But It's a gem. Thanks for another great lesson.

Great álbum and tune.For Stones fans the most significative period was 1969-1972 four albums,but Some Girls is on the top list,just brilliant.There is so many great guitarist in the history of R&R,but the work that Keith and Ronnie did with Some Girls is a másterpiece.

I'm loving your channel. Just found it for Stones tunes and "Happy" to see lots of others I love,..Beatles, etc. At 0:35 and 1:09 , I'm assuming there might be a glitch. I think its the am7 shaped Keith chord that's supposed to be , instead of the single 7th fret full bar you show. I hear it as the cowboy "Am7 shape" at the 7th fret. He might switch it around and do the single bar at 9th fret, too,... more so at out-tro. He might have just winged different interpretations of which chord to hit, as his fingers moved him. Shit if i know. But its great to find this channel with good Keith interpretations. Thanks.

Some Girls was also my first Stones album. Got it for my 10th birthday from my brother on 10 January 1979. Played it more than a thousand times. Still one of my favourite albums of all time, it not the favourite.

Why would I? I just ignore the E string when I tune to open G. It wouldn’t make any difference if I removed it. Beyond that, I’m not pretending to be Keith. He’s him, I’m me.

I love my "Stones 5 String", never intended to do it really, just only restrung 5 one day when swapping out the strings, and thought to myself why bother with the low E I'll just save it.

@@jamesjames9275 that's how I kind of learned to avoid a string the same way. just know that it's not used but not take it off. that started when I started playing I can't explain from The Who and you do not want to hit high E string when your staccato strumming. just the same way when I decide to do some stones and go into open G I just subconsciously don't hit the low E. cuz a lot of times when I'm an open G I like to start fooling around with some black crow stuff too figure as long as I got the guitar tuned down 😂

That part's easy. Barre all the way across: 12 to 7 to 10 to 5, go through that a few times. For the last one, it's 12 to 7 to 10 to 5 then back up to 7 before going back into the chorus.

@@jamesjames9275 cool got the some girls CD pulled out. I'm going to be home tomorrow for 3 days before I go back on the road this is what I wanted to learn to play. And I got the acoustic out I went back and saw the way you actually did the right strum for the title play of let it bleed so many don't get that authentic strum hammering of the A. And the open notes utilizing that sloppy of the time picture Keith just boozing away in the studio but the amazing strum that gets let it bleed playing the proper way. Enjoy the rest of the weekend
