Ma'am I don't have any intention to go gray and I'm not even a woman. I started to watch your videos just because your accent, i am learning English and I listen to you while I'm doing something. And i realized that i started to pronounce words just like you. To be honest even i am not into your contents as a 21 year-old man, i am enjoying to listen you. I hope you keep doing this great job 🙏🏽

I’m a 62 year old African-American woman. My hair started graying in my early 40s and I decided then that I did not want to waste money trying to cover the gray. I lost all of my hair two years ago to chemo and I was sure when my hair grew back it would be completely gray. But after hair re-growth, I’m about 80% black and 20% gray. Each year since re-growth, it’s getting grayer and I’m loving it,. And my hair grew like crazy which surprises me because before chemo, my hair did not grow fast. And it grew a little thicker considering it thinned out a lot after I had a hysterectomy at age 38. My mom and grandmother had salt/pepper gray and it was simply beautiful. They were very light complexion and their gray looked beautiful with their complexion. I’m a little darker. None of us were into makeup but I can honestly say that we have received an abundance of compliments about our gray hair. I do use purple shampoo because my mom/grandmother did and I saw the wonderful transformation to their hair. I’ve never been self-conscious about turning gray. I consider it a blessing that I’ve to lived this long with beautiful hair.

I totally agree with you, I started going grey in my earlier years, but I couldn't accept it. Then, one day, I decided that when I turned 60, I would let it grow out, and now I'm 74 and absolutely love my grey, very curly hair. Thanks for your videos.

@Susan, you might consider sleeping in 2-3 sponge rollers (1-2 on top of your head and at the nape of your neck). They’ll make your hair look twice as full and will give you body as well. ❤

I am 57 and have not colored my hair with permanent dye since I was pregnant with my only child at 32. I used temporary dye once when my son was 3, and he commented about my white hair. That was it for me. I have been wearing my hair gray since 36. I started getting grays in my teens. I would never ever color my hair. I, too, get compliments every day. You are gorgeous!

I just hit my one year anniversary of when I last colored my hair. I’ve heard said “1 year to the ear” and that is about right for me. I knew it would take a couple years at least depending on how short I may want to take it. I am happy with it. I was SO sick of dying it as I did my own from a box for almost three decades. I’m 56 now and feeling the freedom! 😊 All the silver sisters online have been encouraging!

I would always get compliments on my hair and how beautiful it looked. now my hair is all white and I absolutely love it… I still get compliments on it!

I love your gray hair. I quit coloring my hair over five years ago. I figured I would be totally gray by now. But I’m not. I’m 65. My dad’s family all grayed early. They were gray before they were thirty. My mom’s hair stayed dark a lot longer. When she passed at 96 she still had some dark hair in her head. I have noticed mine is getting grayer. But it’s not what I expected. I had an aunt on my dad’s side who had beautiful white hair. I want my hair to look like hers. I told my husband when my hair does go gray, I’m going to dye it pink. He’s not too happy about that. But I may do it if it ever happens.

Thank you Rene I love that green top on you it really suits you 💕 I’m 77 started to let my blonde curls go grey about 15 months ago thankfully I didn’t have the demarcation like you dark haired girls my hay was curly bob not quiet shoulder length I’ve had it cut once in 10 months I’m letting it grow shoulder length for for first time in my life because I know no one can duplicate the colour it’s such a mixture sometimes it doesn’t look grey I’m so proud of it and loving myself at 77 . 🙌 Have a great week. Grew out my silver hair during Pandemic. I have shoulder-length hair and took about 20 months. I was 70 years old. I’d colored it for 22 years and realized that my hair no longer held curls any longer. My spouse was not excited to see my brunette hair slowly became silver. I love my silver hair and do not miss the routine coloring. I do use purple shampoo monthly. My hair is soft and easy to curl again. Plus, it saved me $$.

You look great with your gray curls! I've been following you since before you decided to go gray and have loved watching the process. I'm 75 and don't have much gray hair, my hairdresser often comments on how few grays I have. I get very gentle highlights about once a year that kind of mask them. If it would all just go gray, I wouldn't mind at all. (My Maternal Grandmother hardly had any gray when she died in her 80's.)

I started going gray in my late 20's and just couldn't abide the thought of being gray at that age, so I colored my hair for years (and years and years). Looking back, I'm happy I colored my hair when I was younger, but I do wish I'd stopped sooner than I did. I was in my early 60's when I finally stopped and I absolutely love not wasting that time and money (not to mention all the chemicals that were probably leeching into my body through my scalp) coloring my hair--and all those products I had to use for colored hair. I would never go back to coloring my hair! If you are still coloring your hair and don't want to go gray, more power to you. That's your decision and you have every right to decide that for yourself. But the same is true if you decide to stop coloring your hair--it's your own decision and you have every right to decide that for yourself, despite what other people may think or say. Of course, as I get older, I find that I care less and less about what other people think and say about me. If they chose to be catty and say ugly things, that's up to them and it demonstrates who they are and what kind of person they are and I chose to not be that kind of person. To me, the biggest "decision" you have to make about going gray is do you let it "grow out" or do you do "the big chop". I chose "the big chop" and it took about 2 months for the color to be completely gone. But I had really short hair for about 6 months, too! I'm glad I chose "the big chop", but that's in hindsight (my hair has certainly grown out since then, so I'm no longer dealing with the "almost no hair" look).

This is perfection! I found you when you were probably 4 to 6 months into your transition to gray hair. I remember being shocked: “Oh my gosh! That’s what I’m going to look like, too!” because I have curly hair although it’s a mix of waves and curls. Your videos gave me such encouragement. Everything you are saying here you had said along the way, and it is so true. I have never felt more confident in the way I look. I used to dye mine a bright copper red because it had a lot of personality. Now I use my gray waves and curls to show that personality. I love it and I thank you so much.

Renee I color my hair blonde. My hair is dark underneath. I’m not sure how much grey I would have if I let it go. I do think I have a grey streak on top. I think my problem is I’m afraid to let it go because of thinking it will make me look older. You are very encouraging about that and I know I shouldn’t feel that way. I’m 59 years old. You’re right that grey hair does not make you look older but I feel like some women it does so I think that’s what I’m afraid of. I think an up to date hair style helps as well. I love this video. I will be 68 this year I've been coloring my hair off and on for many years. I asked my hairdresser the other day if there was a way to do this gracefully and because my hair is like blonde and extremely white mostly he said that he could just put a bunch of highlights and a silver rinse on it and it would be fairly easy to grow out on like when you have dark hair he says to wait until I'm 70 but it's getting harder and harder to color it I actually color it at home. It's almost like the dye sometimes doesn't even take into the roots it's just gotten really bad lately so it's nice to hear good stories about going gray. I have a sister that has been gray since she was really young and my father was gray at a young age so I plan on doing it sometime soon

I just turned 61, and have been totally grey since I was 35. My hair is very thick, and I've always worn it very short, so when I finally made the decision to go grey it didn't take long for my color to grow off. I have a 'shock' of almost pure white in the front with more 'salt and pepper ' everywhere else. I wear it shirt and spiky and people are always complimenting my hair. I've never felt old because of my hair, I'm like you and feel better because I am showing the true me. One thing with the purple shampoo, I, too, love the sun and I've found that I need to use the purple shampoo more frequently in the summer but don't like the harshness of it. I keep a small bottle of my favorite summer shampoo that I've added just enough of the purple to remove the brassiness, and I find that I can use it more frequently without drying out my hair. Stay gorgeous and grey!

Greetings Renee! I'm pretty sure I have been with you since the very beginning of your channel when I went looking for someone else who was going gray. We did it together, except that I did end up getting a pixie for a couple of months. I hated the pixie, but it made the process go quicker. Thanks for being there and for giving me the sense that I wasn't alone! (I have curly, wavy hair, but it's very thin.) Love and blessings ♥️🙏

Love your grey and your curls . . .I am 65 and still highlight my hair (which is a dark brunette) because in pictures my hair always looked dull and flat . . . . . asked my hairdresser just last week if I should just go completely gray (I really don't have that much on the underneath where it isn't highlighted) and she told me that my hair isn't ready yet . . . . . not sure what type of gray I have but she says I have so little that my hair would go back to looking dull and she promises to let me know when the time is right . . . so glad you knew when to do it and love it for yourself !!!! God Bless.

I completely agree with everything you said 👩🏻‍🦳👍. Next month will be 5 years since I transitioned to my silver hair cold turkey. My husband was my biggest cheerleader and still is. I love my three tone silver hair and I take very good care of it. I’m very fair skin so definitely need blush, lipstick 💄 and eye makeup. Like you I can’t wear yellow, beige , brown etc… anything else goes. Have you tried L’Oréal Metal detox shampoo, it’s white and brightens my hair so beautifully .

Your hair looks great. I stopped colouring my hair during covid so now around 4 years but mine still has a lot of mousey colour and not as much grey (unfortunately)! I have been thinking of getting some highlights through but maybe I won't and will just accept it as is - probably why was attracted to your video. Also my hair is curly but mainly underneath and the curly routine is also not easy. Oh to have low maintenance hair!

I am 51 and 2 years post menopause. My naturally wavy hair has decided it’s now curly. I, like what the heck?! I also have two white stripes. Like the band 🤣 One on each side of my part. I have no idea what is going on and how to take care of it. I still have very fine hair, and now in FL since 2010. Humidity has always been my life, like when I lived in Louisville. I gave up decades ago with controlling the frizz. It’s hopeless. I am glad I decided to go gray naturally and not using dye to cover it. About the only thing I’ve done right. 🤣

Gray hair is dryer, I went from washing every other day to once a week! Now it tends a bit fly away for a couple of days after wash. Mine is very straight, and remains thick. I wash with purple shampoo about every fourth wash.

Good Morning Renee. I am still not very gray…Genetics. My Mom didn’t go gray until her 70’s…same with my Grandma. (Mom’s Mom) But, my Dad’s Mom was totally gray…as long as I remember. Didn’t inherit that. So, I still choose to colour my hair. Every 2-3 months. I’m sure that one day…I will get tired of spending that money. I have not come to that decision yet. Thank you for sharing this video with us. 👍🇨🇦😊 I have typical Asian hair. Very course..& lots of it. I am lucky that I don’t struggle with thinning hair. My Auntie has alopecia…& is very conscious of her thinning hair. It happens a lot with post-menopausal women in my ethnicity…it’s hormonal & genetic. My Auntie that has this…married into our family…not the same genetics. I’m glad that I don’t have that issue. You look beautiful in your gray hair. I have a girlfriend that turned gray in her 20’s, also Genetics. I have only known her with Salt & Pepper Hair. She has never coloured it. She is beautiful & it suits her. I think it only matters with the person who has gray hair. Your hair, your choice. It doesn’t matter what others think….as long as you love it. Just my opinion. Have a great weekend! 👍😍 We are going back into the deep freeze this weekend. I already shovelled 3” of snow this morning & it’s still snowing. I will probably shovel another 2 times before the day is through. It is supposed to be -25C on Saturday. (-13F) & -28C on Sunday. (-18.4F) ❄️🥶

Thank you so much for this video. I have considered going gray for some time now. And I agree with you that I think my colored hair is really making me look “older” these days. I just can’t seem jump the hurdle and do it. I wish I had your confidence. I just turned 55 and think, why wait? I know it’s because I worry about the grow out process. 👎🏻

Aww, you can do it!! ☺️ You can do headbands, scarves, hats, buns, ponytails, and when it grows out 6 months or more, you can tone your ends a cool shade so it all blends better. 🎉

Natural redheads such as myself do not grey, but go directly to white. I'm still highlighting my hair but boy that white hair is really wanting to come on, lol. Maybe down the line I will embrace it, but for now I still like being a redhead...

I’ve always loved your hair!! Grey hair here as well! Very blonde hair as a baby/child, darker into the teen years, started the highlights around 19, hair turned very dark during pregnancies in my 30’s, back to highlights and added low lights and finally stopped getting highlights and low lights back in 2020 when the world shut down and it seems my hair has reverted back to when I was a child…very blonde now with natural gray streaks. Bizarre!! I can’t tell you how much money I’ve saved! 😅 However, it is very thin and straight as a pin…always has been. I would LOVE to have curls, but it’s not going to happen, so I now keep it in a short bob. I also use the purple shampoo to avoid the yellow that shows up periodically, but so much easier and cheaper than before. Thanks for the great video!

Renee when did you start using a purple shampoo? I haven't colored my hair in over 4 years but am not fully gray. I still have a lot of brown but a lot of gray underneath and on top of my head, almost like highlights. Wondering if I need a purple shampoo once a week maybe. Thanks.
@WelcomeToMyCurls
@WelcomeToMyCurls 7 күн бұрын
I started using purple shampoo because my white and very light grey hair was picking up a brown/yellowish hue to it from sun exposure and hair products. The purple shampoo removes those things that have built up on my hair and cause the brassiness.

The worst thing about getting old is that I am still unwise enough to color my grey hair at 64. And it started to go grey when I was 16. Now, I have been asking God to give more wisdom to let nature takes place so I can go snow top and be proud of it! Enough of toxic product on my scalp every few weeks, and the cheap smelly shampoo from the hair salon.

Morning Rene. I went gray when I first found your channel. I thought if she can do it so can I. And I’m glad I did. Coloring your hair is so over rated. I remember my scalp would burn than itch, it just drove me crazy! My hair isn’t curly. But it is short and salt and pepper. You’re right about having to change clothing colors. My favorite colors are bright and really brings out the silver in my hair. Thanks to you

I'm 50, and totally willing to be gray, but nature isn't cooperating, haha. I colored my hair from age 15 to my late 30s (because my childhood blond started to get darker), but eventually, just got sick of it and let my natural color (dark blond/light brown) grow out. I think I saw my first gray in my late 30s, and I have a few gray strands in my temples and widow's peak, which I jokingly call my "glitter." I tell people I've EARNED my gray and am not ashamed of it! But it's barely any, and you really have to be up close to see it still, at age 50. I feel like I'm getting more and more as the days go on, but it may still be several years yet before it's really noticeable? I also have waist-length straight hair, so there's a lot of color still. But I feel like gray is a sign of maturity and wisdom, and I look forward to being gray! but my mom (in her 70s) is like yours and STILL regularly colors her hair, and my mother-in-law (in her 80s) only stopped coloring maybe 2-3 years ago.

If you have a young pretty face and big expressive eyes, good color of complexion, and a healthy body, then go for it. You'll most likely be fine. As for me, I'm naturally very pale and not so young anymore. When I'm out walking, kind ladies stop in their cars and ask me if I need help. Apparently I look as if I've wandered away from the nursing home and need assistance finding my way back. I'm 81 and I do get a good laugh out of it.

Hooray joico… 30 year product and color user… tip:.. if your hair builds to much color (purple) you can mix it equal parts + - with joico k-pak or other shampoo in the palm of your hand and still follow instructions on leaving it in. I have hi lighted gray hair and it helps blend the blond with the gray… my gray is very white.
