An exquisite view is from Snow Summit. Take the chair lift to the top. You can have lunch at the Taphouse up there and go for a pretty 1-mile hike that loops back to where you started.

I live about 25 minutes eastnorth of Big Bear in the Desert below. We love escaping the desert heat and hauling our boat up the mountain for a day of fishing and enjoying the beautiful weather and scenery. A word of caution, if you plan on sun bathing along the shore. Even if it's a mild day you can quickly burn to a crisp! So use sunscreen!! We have to be careful not getting sunburn while in the boat! Enjoy your time up there and please don't litter!

Nice videos of the lake. It looks amazing after years of most of it being dry as a bone. Some of those plants in the lake making it look more like a bog now. So that’s very neat. I’m only 40 mins away from Big Bear but don’t go often because it’s money. It truly is a fun place. And I also recommend the grocery stores deli sandwich area. Very cheap but amazing made sandwiches that are worth the money. Or maybe they had a deal that day. $4.99 for a huge Sammy. thanks for the tips here. I’d love to swim the lake.

Yes you can in summer, but there are no lifeguards and it’s super cold!
