I like Flexcolor CQ also and have been using it for 6 years now. I found out the easiest way to use it is the following steps. 1) Pre Wet the tile with a wrung out micro fiber towel. On the bucket it says to dampen the tile I tried this with a sponge and the grout gets soupy. 2) spread grout. 3) Move sponge in a circular motion. In recent years I have used a bigger sponge like a ramondi sponge. 4) pull sponge at a 45 degree angle. 5) stretch out a big microfiber towel across the surface with your fingers be careful not to press into the grout joint and drag the towel across the surface. Some times I drag the towel twice across the surface. I found the really big microfiber towels they sell in the tile department work the best. If you try this method you won’t have to use any haze removers at all the microfiber does a fantastic job. I ran into a Mapei rep at a local supplier and he recommended this method I asked him why it’s not in the directions on the bucket he said “ Mapei didn’t want to change the label on the bucket”🤷♂️. Give it a try it works well.

When I bought my house in 2021 the previous owners had 44' of bad drain line replaced from the kitchen to the hallway bathroom as a condition of purchase. They had to cut through the slab. When they patched the floor back up they didn't level the concrete and just half-ass set the tiles back down. I went through like 30 tubes of Fix a Floor adhesive and still have hollow tiles. Can see lipping problems and horrible grout joints. Eventually all of it will have to come up, the floor leveled, and new tile laid back down. So I'm here doing my learning curve.

Great job on the tile. Wish I had the skillset to do it so well. And HTH do you tile and grout an entire bathroom w/o a spot of tileset or grout on you or your clothing! I definitely need to master that. 😆

We have a large walk in shower. What are your thoughts on doing a linear drain with large tile for the shower floor? What do you recommend for shower floors that are large in size? Thank you for any input you have on this topic. 😊

Depends on drain location if it’s center on the floor large format tile with envelope cuts looks extremely clean. Get a slip rated porcelain tile they make tiles that are gritty on the surface specifically for this porcelanosa makes a tile like this

One thing I noticed in a few of your videos (where you're grouting) that you use sponges with squared off edges. Aren't sponges with rounded off edges better because there's less chance you'll dig the grout out? Maybe you avoid it with the circular motion and light touch? Thanks - enjoying the videos and picking up tips!

I'm getting ready to Purchase and install the Hydro Blok shower system. Saw a video you recently did and I am curious how easy or difficult it was to install. Seems to be comparable to Wedi. Heard from my supplier that the guys who created hydro blok worked for Wedi before creating their product.

Very beginning of video touched my heart!!! Ange grew up driving her Dad's "94 Eddie Bauer Ford Bronco & then her Dad's 2008 F350 V12 Extended cab 8" bed!!! Seeing a female behind the wheel of a pickup is a fantastic thing to see!!! Shows that she's no joke!!! Especially if she's carrying a 25 lbs. hammer in her back pocket (your secrets safe with me) LOL!!! This tile line is very interesting. Especially with what we're facing Globally. I can very much see how much you & Chris appreciate sharing the correct info. & producing quality content. Hoping all is well guys, Dirty Jersey out!!!

Honestly its lighter and I feel like I can get a better push into the join with the grout because its a bit less soft than the red one. Flexcolor is a love hate relationship for me

I'm new to the tiling business. I have a guy who wants me to lay a ceramic tile entry way over old hard wood floors. They have carpet over them now. But he wants me to cut out a 6'x4' section in front of his back door and tile it. There is hardwood flooring underneath the carpet. He wants to keep the hardwood floor in place. What's my best way of securing this to the floor, but not have a ton of movement front the hardwood flooring underneath?

I've run across your videos and have a situation which I would like to ask your advice on. My wife has MS and has mobility issues, getting across the curb for the shower is difficult and I would like to redo the small shower without a curb. It also would be ideal to have a seat for her within the space. The current shower pan is 35"x35.5" with the drain center in the second floor of a split level with access underneath. Any thoughts or advice would be helpful.
@ThatTileChick2 жыл бұрын
Hey Mike thanks for reaching out, being on the second floor makes things a little less difficult. There is a product called rapid recess which will help you prep the subfloor for a curbless shower. Feel free to shoot me an email ThatTileChick@gmail.com if you have further questions I'd be happy to help if I can

@@ThatTileChick what are your thoughts on Flexcolor for shower floors? I have a penny round base to grout (on a Hydro Blok pan) and they recommend something with over 3500psi comp strength. I see Flexcolor meets this spec, but I've heard it can soften over time with constant water exposure. Trying to avoid epoxy if possible.
