I'm 46 I just retired this year in May I was a Bus Operator in NYC for 10 years, the only thing I miss is actually driving the bus it was fun but I dont miss dealing with the public. Retirement is a financial situation not an age. Dont feel bad for taking control of your time back from the matrix.

My mom was an extrovert and social butterfly. She went into a depression less than one year after she retired, it was eye opening for me. I will change from dual career part-time Realtor to full-time. I will also join social clubs, take fitness classes and continue to volunteer when I retire. The majority of my family, acquaintances and coworkers that have retired haven't lived past six years after retirement. We need a reason/purpose💜

#1 is what I actively avoid the most to be honest. I never liked forced or peer pressured work get togethers. I was always able to separate my personal and work life and I honestly prefer it that way.

Very good point! There’s no longer that work connection. But with joining a gardening group, you can connect with people based on something you’re passionate about!!!❤️

I've been remote for over 6 almost 7 years... I was an extrovert and then I slipped into being an introvert.. I've tried to make friends but i find people don't want to nourish a friendship. Basically I would have to put all the effort in and none on the other side so I just stopped. I'm 37 and expecting to be financially independent by 45 planning on retiring at 47 and moving abroad by 48. I really need to find hobbies that doesn't involve other people... I'm definitely struggling to find happiness in this environment

As always great content! Definitely not only need to plan for retiring from something-(lose the job via FIRE planning), but one MUST plan to retire to something-(each person to fill in their own "retire to" blank). Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays. Rich

I think the hardest part is finding your new identity. If your job was you identity, then it's hard trying to find that "who am I?" now. Speaking for myself, I was unemployed for 6 months by choice; it was great for the first 2 months or so, and I found that I struggled with identity and/or purpose. I'm still looking for it, I find it here and there in hobbies and stuff, I want to try surfing. It got so bad, that I went to work part time. I turned down other job offers, because they wanted full time, and then I went to work part time. It's per diem, and I pay for my own benefits, but I worked that into my budget. So far so good. But once I find that new identity, then I'll be all in. I'm still in my 50's, I hope I find it soon.

I agreed with Die with Zero's author. One must practice the retirement life years before stop working. It worked for me. I create a social (small) social. cirvle before stop working.

❤❤Great points! I am practicing for my retirement because I’m hoping to ease the transition. Being intentional about building up my identity and life outside of work as I gradually reduce my work commitments. It’s been a beautiful journey and I discovered Im no longer in a “rush” to retire. I’m now much more content and enjoying the journey. It’s allowed me to incorporate many of the things that I enjoy (and were putting off till retirement) into my daily life. Your channel has been instrumental in my growth and success! Thank you! ❤

Merry Christmas Amon and Christina. Thanks for being an inspiration ♥️ I still remember my 1st comment here how ecstatic I was getting my 1st dividend, now I’m half way to reach my Fire # so I can chill in my country, the Philippines. I’m still not sure to retire early but at least I have the option to do it one day. Btw, thought about the two of you and your family when I went to Portugal last March 😂 best experience ever ♥️

I retired at 37 and after being told what to do while I was in the military, I value MY time now. The only thing I miss is the camaraderie with my military brothers and sisters. Now, I just get up and move as I want and it’s the best feeling in the world! No worrying about mortgages, car payments, etc. Retirement is great but you have to find things to do.

I love the idea to send yourself a check twice a week like you are working! Hilarious. I am going to do that for sure when I retire. I am going to get all excited like 'ooohhh I can't wait until pay day (happy dance)' or 'man I earned my money this week!' or 'I think I deserve a raise, it's past time'...the opportunities to play with this are endless. 😅

Merry Christmas, Amon and Christina! Life is different with Pete being retired. I am definitely keeping him busy with my ever-increasing honey-do list. 😂. We have plans to build a new community of friends and participate in community volunteer events. We will be missing out on all the fun in 2024, but hope that you have plans to come visit your family and friends in the Bay Area. I know that our accountability group in the Bay Area would love to help host a West Coast meet up. Let’s make it happen?😊

I'm good... My Life shall improve exponentially in retirement at 56 yrs of age. I have plenty to do. Those Folks aren't even going to be able to understand you two when you decide to access your TSP. LOL, the way you all are moving your TSP might be meaningless by that time. Your "co-workers" are going to wonder how you did it! LOL!!!
