Thx again for this very informative video. I was thinking about getting into Real Estate photography here in Denmark as an income supplement. Fact is that I am travelling 5-6 months a year. So I woke up to reality (Min. 16.52 on the video) when you mentioned that this trade is a NO part time job. Anyhow, I stay very much a fan of your straight forward and informative videos.🙏

Thank you very much for taking the time to watch this video. I just want people to know what they may be getting into. The industry might be different in Denmark (at least I hope it is)

Brett this was great. I have been a photographer for ten years but just now entering the real estate genre and I understand that most of the agents will try to nickel and dime. I know this is easier said than done, but I am determined to set standards for MY business and not let agents do it. I will never do free, I do not discount. I will give the best service I can, but in the end, if they bitch...oh well! In essence, I never want to come from a place of desperation about it. You are exactly right, there is no loyalty in this business. Great video.

Yes, I have to admit, sitting here alone at night in my dark house watching/listening to those stories raised my blood pressure a bit.

Brett, really enjoying your videos. This one was top shelf and I really enjoyed the stories. Maybe you should do one 'Stories of a Real Estate Photographer'. Also have watched the gear video as well as 'birds attacking' and have started your DaVinci Resolve series. Big fan and subscribed.

Did you mention that most of the Real Estate Agents doing the hiring of Photographers, have no effing idea of what a good camera is, and so go by brand names and catch phrases? Must be Canon,.. Must shoot Nikon,.. Must own Sony,.. must have Full Frame, must have 16mm on full frame,... Most of them have no idea what makes a good camera and what can be done with various sensor sizes, focal lengths etc etc,... and if you have even the slightest deviation from what they've been told is the right gear by another estate agent, then they won't hire. Not a clue that a 8mm on 2/3rds offers the same view angle as 35 on 35. Turn up with Medium Format and a 45mm, they won't know what it is, or how wide it is. They're the same as the folks that won't hire a cinematographer unless they own a Red, (even those with Alexa's, BMD's, Sony's,..) instead of building a relationship based on the skills. Can you tell I spent too much time filming weddings and got jaded?

In all the years I've been doing Real Estate Photography I have never had an agent ask or even care what camera I use. I suppose if you were to work directly as an employee to an Estate Agency maybe that will be the case. I work as a contractor to them. I use a canon, my second guy uses a Nikon and the third guy uses a Sony. Never had any issues at all.@@PiDsPagePrototypes

@@reviewprodigy Check some of the job adverts, they often list requirements in those - the ads are pitched like hiring an employee, but expecting the employee to bring the gear.

@@reviewprodigy Ive had multiple clients ask me what camera system i use - but it is usually because they are an enthusiast and are just curious what the pros use.

@@PiDsPagePrototypes 2/3rds?? Even if there was such a thing, it wouldn’t yield a 35mm equivalent angle of view when using a 35mm lens. That makes no sense whatsoever. I think you’re referring to a micro 4/3rds, or MFT, which has a crop factor of 2 and would make a 35mm lens have a 70mm equivalent field of view. The others (Nikon & Sony) are a 1.5 (1.6 for Canon) crop factor, which would make the fov 52.5mm (56mm for Canon) on a 35mm lens.

Hi Brett. Thanks for your sharing. I have some questions: 1. Usually do you go shoot the real estate by yourself or you have a partner to go with? Does the realtor usually go with you? 2. Have you got into any trouble with other photographers? e.g another photographer accused that you steal their job and threaten you? 3. Do you think it's possible to just do the drone real estate photography rather than providing the whole service pack? Tbh your video is the 1st one that shares about cleaning up the properties and weird things in those old houses. When I look around in Zillow, I was like "no way I'm going into that house alone" lol

Hi Bao, The Realtors turn up 50% of the time. I shoot by myself almost always. I have other photographers that work for me but they are usually shooting other jobs for me at the same time. Never had any issues with other photographers at all. You definetly can do just drone photography. Thats where I will be steering my business in the future. If you are going to shoot interiors you will have to get used to being in empty houses:)
