Where can i find out about when a set retires?
@Carboxylated2 жыл бұрын
Speed Champions, Creator (3-1 all the way to expert), Batman, StarWars Battle Packs, Harry Potter (ones with limited/rare minifigs), Ninjago Dragons/Spinjitsu, Friends (Modular look-a-like big box sets), Gift With Purchases and lastly Target Exclusives are my go to's every single time with always a profit. End game...to make myself a revolving door of Lego to fund my Lego addiction. Sure here and there on occasion I will make a little extra cash but it’s not about that. I wait about 6 months to a year after a set retires to sell, I'm not scalping ever. Only buying 1 or 2 of a set and never more than that. I keep my assortment wide and cast my net big over many themes, some themes I never had interest in like Friends. Never keep a set more than 5 years unless its classic system (80's-early 2000s big box) or a rare exclusive. I love Lego collecting, building, and buying. Selling on the secondary market helps keep retired sets alive.

If we are just looking at adding a little additional income to our normal 9-5, would you suggest starting an LLC or just selling without setting up a business? At what dollar threshold would it be worth setting up a separate business?
@Carboxylated2 жыл бұрын
when your monthly gross is more than $1300. an LLC cost like $333 then $250 annually (LegalZoom), and its fast and easy. Freshbooks also helps with keeping books for tax purposes.

I have a dilemma. I'm just getting into Lego investing, have spent a scary amount of money, and am taking delivery of my first sets. However I won't know how my collection is going and whether I'm comfortable with Lego investment until at least 1 year from now. Meanwhile, numerous great sets will retire before then. Do I spend even more money on those next year before I have "proof of concept"? Anyone has any words of wisdom?
@BrickBucks3 жыл бұрын
if you are feeling uncomfortable about it then it might be worth slowing down your buying a bit and focusing on research. By digging deep into the data, e.g. looking at old sets and how they've grown in value, price charts, supply and demand data, Keepa graphs etc., you will gain a lot of confidence in the system even without making a single sale. The proof that this thing works is all right there in the data, and that's how I got through that first year without selling stuff. It's the hardest part, but as soon as you get through that first year of starting the snowball at the top of the hill, it becomes a lot better from there. Best of luck, you got this!

Are there excel spreadsheet templates to help with keeping track of the data?

Brick Bucks Great video Shane. Is the selling market different in America as to the UK because I notice homes in the US are much bigger than that of the UK and feel that where as people in the US could very easily buy the bigger sets and store them in their lego collection, I feel the majority buying lego for their collection (purchaser's from would be sellers like yourself) may go for smaller sets in the UK as the availability of the storage space may not be as big as that in the US. Thankyou 😊

We are getting fcked as europeans by lego tho. Im from europe and im thinking about starting to invest, but even looking at the official lego store. The ideas winnie the pooh is 100 usd. Whilst the official site translated to euro's, its 110 euro. 110 euro converted to usd is 132 usd. So when ur from europe, ur paying 32 dollars more for the same product. Sorry that im a bit annoyed.

Are sets valued differently based on the country where they were manufactured in?
@BrickBucks3 жыл бұрын
not where they were manufactured no, it's more based on the place they are being sold

Nice video. My mom over the past 6 months has started to buy lego and just hold on to it she says hold on to it for 50 years and then sell. I have a few retired sets in my collection they are all still in there original boxes for the retired sets I bought had a plan for then my entire city changed causing me to just scrap those plans and keep the sets in boxes. Does the size of the set matter when deciding on which sets to try to resell and which to just keep for 50 years? Right now I have a set in my collection that is still sealed and it is 9 years old would that be a good one to resell or just keep since it was originally only a $7 set?

50 years??! lol
@bricklover22583 жыл бұрын
@@thepostofficeprince8819 That is my moms plan with her lego not my plan.

50 years would be my plan too, just don't think I'll be alive that long. Maybe when I'm in my 60s then I'll sell all my sets.

Oh man... I’m from Australia and I only spent 2 days learning about lego investing and already spent $1,000 on 9 products across 4 themes. I think this will be a good learning curve though... got some time to learn about the reselling side and everything else mentioned in this video before I start buying again. Thanks for the great content. I’m also trying to think about demand in Australia for sets, as there doesn’t seem to be that many sold on eBay, not sure if it would pick up more during Christmas. At my current stock levels it would be okay, but thinking about scalability, I’m not sure how far one could push it and still have much demand on the Australian second hand reselling market for lego? Any other places I can check besides sold listings on eBay?
