I am a highschool band student trumpet player, and in 3 months of playing i am phenomenal with trumpet. And then i came across the bari sax in the band and i was like "wow!!!!" So when christmas break is over i am going to learn the bari sax at school, and its my first sax ever. Oh, and as a trumpet player, I WISH I HAD AN OCTAVE KEY!!!!!!! I have to tighten and loosen my lips and it squeaks at me sometimes and gets annoying. I am so thankful for this video ❤❤❤ Music never dies 🎶🎺 🎶🎷

Our son's music school rents their Yamaha student saxes for the princely sum of 50€ a year! You may also want to mention the instrument support options. The strappy style is OK for someone like you with a strong frame, but for others they may want to "splurge" on the Jazz Lab Saxholder Pro which supports the weight of the instrument on the shoulders, and not around the neck. It also avoids the straps of the harness-style carriers, which can constrict the diaphragm,

I'm a flute player in a wind band, and really want to try a new instrument. I'm thinking of saxophone. I'm just hard to be pragmatic about it, because my brain says that maybe I'd be better off with more advanced flute lessons instead. But what if the two would encourage the other, like with language learning.

Some good points made. Learning Sax can be (is) very frustrating because a consistent embouchure is vital, and personally I found that really difficult. My advce is not to experiment too much. Find a place for your bottom lip on your reed that gets a sound out tof the sax and stick with it. I've watched lots of stuff on line from professional sax players and the conclusion I've come to is they're good because they have aptitude, and I don't :( Anyone can develop skill with persistence, but it only gets you so far.
@SaxTuition Жыл бұрын
Hey there! Learning the saxophone shouldn't be frustrating 🙂 Just remember, when it comes to learning an instrument, you can't expect to go it alone. Learning sax isn't like learning to change the oil in your car - it's a craft that requires a system to stick to - either through taking in-person lessons with a sax instructor or by learning with an online course. There are many pitfalls with trying to learn KZbin alone, and although I make handy tips for sax players to use, I wouldn't expect them to improve very much if that's *all* they used. p.s. I definitely encourage experimentation with your embouchure, as through that process you can find little areas of tonal improvement. Don't give up! 💪 - Jeremy

Number one is find a really good qualified teacher so he or she can listen to you and fine tune your playing. #2 don't let saliva build up on the back side of your reed or you will get squealing. Learn how to clear your reed or better yet, remove it and clean it off with your mouth and don't forget to clean the mouth piece to achieve a better sound. Keeping saliva build up from happing will make your life a lot easer. If your sax starts squealing remove and clean your reed.

Hello thanks for the video first. If you don’t mind, I am wondering why people don’t start on the Baritone Sax. I am thinking about starting out and a lot of my Favourite players and cover artist are playing the Baritone Sax so it came to the thought in my mind to think about learning to play this instrument my self. Now the question for me is if this is an option or an good idea. BTW I want to learn the saxophone in order to gain a hobby that helps me taking off my head from work, I work as a cgi artist and having something to get my head off would be great. If some one could give me some advice on those thought that would be great. Have a great day everyone cheers.

Hi there! Most people don't start with the baritone because of all the reasons you can probably guess - it's large, expensive, reasonably heavy and it can be difficult to transport. Due to it's low range, it normally doesn't get the melody in band settings, and from a playing perspective it takes a good amount of breath control to get a solid tone. Don't get me wrong - it's an absolutely beautiful instrument - but most people choose to learn basics on alto or tenor, then move to baritone if they have a passion for it. Hope that makes sense!

I am so very wanting to start playing saxophone but am leaning towards the tenor. Mainly because that was my grandfather’s instrument of choice back in the 1930’s and he loved it. However, I am finding that a used quality tenor saxophone is tough to come by and in a nice price point. Many I am finding are frankly junk. I really am not interested in a cheap quality instrument. I am in it for the long haul and want to invest my cash wisely into something that will last and not develop issues. Conversely, alto saxophones are flush in the market and there are many really great ones. They are, as you stated, more affordable. So I am torn. Full disclosure I have been out of school for 35 years and never was given a chance to take up a band instrument

So I've only had my saxophone for 4 days and so far I found it really difficult. I've been playing piano for over 10 years, later some guitar, ukulele, bass, ocarina, and a few others. I also had special music courses in high school, so I know the theory well. That makes online courses problematic because they usually start from scratch and assume you can't read sheet music yet. By the time I started taking piano and guitar lessons back then, we did certainly not start on page 1 and it was very individual regarding what I needed to improve at and what came easily to me. So I taugh myself the basics, got lessons for a few years, then stopped the lessons and kept playing on my own. Problem is rn, I am not able to afford music lessons by myself. Back when I was a kid, there were support programs that helped us afford it, but now I'm just too old and too broke 😅And the basics of saxophone, so far, have been much more difficult to get down than any other instrument I've played. I truly have no idea whether by embouchure is any good. I'm hoping that things will become significantly easier within the next month or so and it doesn't stay this squeaky blowy mess it is right now 😂

Saxes are noisy instruments. I am considering this because I live in an apartament and my aparment neighbors could be annoyed, even angry with me. I watched videos out there on people practicing with bell pointing onward an open wardrobe full of coats, clothes, shirts, and pants so the sound can be "muted" somehow (but this hack can only work for practicing stuffs that are inside you memory, and not for acquisition ot reading-score skills). Another guys discussed on using a muter made of plastic or another material inside the bell. Could a piece of winter hat made of whool inside the first portion of the bell mute sax's sound?
