While not applicable to every game on this list, this basically a list of great heavy euros, which includes a number of my absolute favorite games. Feast it's my #1. I highly recommend the Norwegians expansion. It introduces a modular player-scaling board which tightens up the game for two players, and a lot of the game has been streamlined.
@seasand67052 жыл бұрын
yeah, Feast + Norwegians is the most replayed game with just me and my wife. its hard to find 2 player games that I wont get tired of
@StormCrow422 жыл бұрын
Yea, once I got Norwegians I just put the bits of the base game it replaced in the Norwegian's box and they get left behind. Norwegians only adds the slightest bit of additional complexity but the extra shapes and the scaled player board just make it worth always playing with.

Great list! A few surprises and a couple that are in my top 10 as well. I definitely have been aligning more with Monique than with Naveen, but a lot of Naveen's list I've never even played, so who knows where it would sit. My top 10 of all time (this year) is: 10. Tekhenu: Obelisk of the Sun - Another game where I feel like I have a plan at the beginning of the game, but you have to be flexible to change your plans based on how the dice come out and I find that challenge delicious! 9. Ark Nova - this one really surprised me! I just got it, but ended up playing it solo 7 times in 3 days because I couldn't get enough of it. All the mechanics mesh so well and again you need to be flexible in changing course in case the cards you want don't come out. Not a huge fan of zoos, but I love animals and appreciate that conservationism is also a part of this game. I can't wait to play it with other people to see how it plays there. 8. Anachrony - there's just so much happening in this game, plus so many modules and expansions so that no two games are ever the same. It takes a lot to get this one to the table because of all the bits, but when I do I really love the planning of each turn and the fact that the time travel makes sense (as much as something sci-fi can). 7. The Gallerist - This game's theme is what has kept it so high on the list as well as how everything you do ties in so well with that theme. I thought that this was going to be my highest Vital Lacerda game, but it's not this year. It dropped from it's number 4 spot two years in a row because of the next game. 6. On Mars - It was lower on the list last year, but I hadn't played it as much and the more I play this one, the more it shines. I also feel like I never have enough time to get everything done that I want to, but that's part of the fun with this one. Also thrilled to have found a game about Mars that I like, because I really didn't care for Terraforming Mars. 5. Teotihuacan: City of Gods - such difficult decisions in this rondelle game and really challenging because of the other players getting in your way. I'm always a little anxious playing this because I have a plan, but it can be ruined simply by the previous player's turn. 4. Bitoku - Another new one in my top ten and so high! The artwork is incredible in this one and the gameplay is so good. It feels like you're getting nowhere with your moves and then suddenly you've got a bunch of points, so you must be doing something right. With two it's good, but with three, the competition for the dice placement locations is so challenging. I was really taken by this one. 3. Nemesis - It's been in my top 3 since I got it because it's so immersive. The tension you feel for everyone as they roll a die to see if the aliens heard them is so good. The fact that it's semi - coop and we almost always lose takes nothing away from the experience. Every time we begin I'm so full of hope that THIS TIME is the time when I will win. Only once has that been true. 2. Trickerion: Legends of Illusion - What can I say that you didn't already say? The action selection is my favourite part as well as how well the theme comes through in the decisions you make. 1. Everdell - Looking at the rest of my games, you can see that I really like heavy games and Everdell doesn't really fit in with the rest, but the reason that this is my favourite game of all time is because of the pure joy I feel when I'm playing it. Some of the love I have towards it must come from the nostalgia of cartoony woodland creatures from my childhood, but not only do I love the art work and the world , but also the combo-ing of cards and the tight worker placement restrictions. The expansions really open up the game even more adding more challenges and rewards and I can't wait for the next two expansions to arrive this year. I'm sure it's only going to make me love it even more.

Love y'alls videos, and watching this, I'm just really feelin the magic of this hobby a little extra right now. Especially when Naveen was talking about his experience with GOA. GOA doesnt look like much. Looks a little out-dated, and maybe not enticing to many, but he says he likes to run it any time he gets a chance at a convention and people always love it when introduced. It's just so good to see how games can be kept alive solely through this type of sharing. Every person who enjoys it is another little planted seed of life for that game, and they share with more people and plant more seeds. I just love it. @David I feel the same way about Shut Up & Sit Down, in that many of their favorite games fall flat for me. The Dice Tower on the other hand lines up very well with my personal tastes. This particular list is far too heavy Euro for my tastes (except for Scythe 1 of my favorites), but I still appreciate the views and opinions expressed. I think a lot of it also depends on who you play with, I didn’t see many Co-ops, or kid friendly, or party games mentioned. I typically prefer lists with a little more diversity in game type, player count, and age, but still enjoyed this list for sure. Great thoughts all around.

I really enjoy watching your review / playthrough videos, since they are so well done. In addition, they introduce me to new games and give in depth information on games that interest me. My Santa's List for this Christmas had 3 games: "Spirit Island", "Maracaibo", and "Cubitos", all based on your playthrough videos. I also got "The Crew: The Quest for Planet Nine", which ended up being high on both of your Top 50 Lists. After watching your Top 50, I was surprised that "Cubitos" was not on either of your lists. In the coming year, I am most looking forward to seeing your "A Feast for Odin" and more "Spirit Island" playthroughs. The work you put into the videos is greatly appreciated.

That was the best Top 50 we've ever seen with my wife. Most of the games you covered are in our collection or Wishlist. We just realized that you probably must inspired us in some way because we couldn't believe that we had some many crossovers :). All the best for you

Great video series! I really can’t rank games.I feel like I tend to name older titles that wowed me when I first played them, even if there are recent games I also enjoy. I also have hard time ranking lighter games vs heavier games. I will say that some all-time favorites include Race for the Galaxy, Keyflower, Uwe Rosenberg big-box games, and Dominion (my gateway game),. Some new-to-me titles that are quickly earning spots among the favorites include Lorenzo il Magnifico, Grand Austria Hotel, Fleet Dice Game, Lost Ruins of Arnak, and The Magnificent. I also love the Vital Lacerda games I have played, thanks to your series! And Brass: Lancashire is an excellent game. Overall, though, I don’t think I can rank our games…too many great ones!

only been into the hobby for a year and went down the fast lane of complexity thanks to your videos (went from Clue to Lisboa in 3 months), I do love Lisboa but for VL games, I think Vinhos takes it for the ease of getting it out again and again. Brass was definitely a surprise, especially when so many prefer Birmingham!

This year Lacerda’s eventually entered my gaming life, you played a big part on it by the way, so my top ten list has been heavily affected. GWT and GP are unmovable up there but Lacerda’s keep escalating positions every time I play them. They are intimidating but also rewarding.

I absolutely loved watching all these top 50 videos! you guys are my favorite channel, you have a very unique and elegant taste for games. The only thing that kinda surprised me was to not find Viticulture, not even as a honorable mention :P. For your very euro'ish taste, I thought that would be a no brainer to find it in any position. Viti it's such a awesome game in it's category. Keep it up with your channel and can't wait for more of your videos in this 2022. Regards from Bolivia!!

It is wonderful that despite the deluge of new games every year and everyone chasing the newest hotness, those classic titles have so much staying power. I couldn't tell you more than 1 or 2 new games coming out in 2022, but I can tell you what reprints of older games I am going to be getting!

I'm really looking into playing a Vital Lacerda game because of all the love you show for them in your videos! I didn't expect Scythe to be so high but I can't say I'm surprised since it is my #2 board game of all time! I also love the story of Rise of Fenris and the surprises that come with it, although I have to say that I have never tried to play with the modules that are part of it after I finished the campaign, although I want to repeat it at some point. I love A Feast for Odin but I think I need the expansion, after some plays I feel frustrated that there's no simple way to produce weapons and I have felt the unbalance that you mention so I'm glad that the expansion might fix that! I was also curious that Caverna is high in your list, I want to try it but I was fearful that it might feel as a lesser experience than A Feast for Odin. Now I know I need to play it! Great list thank you so much for all your videos I really, really like them. I also love Brass but the only one that I have played is Birmingham (and is the one that I own) but is truly an amazing game. I feel you can forget about the math-y part of the game and enjoy it very much! That's how I play it. I don't own a lot games and I don't play a lot of them, unfortunately, but my #1 is also a Stonemaier Game: Tapestry! Creating the story of a fictional civilization without the fear of being attacked by another player while still being interested in what they are doing, is a great experience for me. It has an amazing table presence and each expansion makes it better and better!

Lol!!! So glad you decided to do it, Did you have a particular technique on how you arrived at the top 10?
@olloplays2 жыл бұрын
@Before You Play THAT WAS THE PROBLEM RIGHT? My partner and I talked for an hour after watching the last video and we both felt the parameters would change based on like player count or short vs long games. But after talking about all those parameters there were some I didn't want to leave off the list, similar to what you said about Brass Lancashire, I just knew my top 5 needed to be there. The rest I did because of how often I've played it or how often I ask to get it to the table. Man, it was so difficult.

Love these videos and your playthrough/review videos. One suggestion for your top 50 games videos, in to make them easer to follow, is to talk about all games even if they will be cross overs in the same video. The second time can be shorter :) also, in earlier videos you gave away that the game would show up in later videos and I would have preferred a surprise.
