Hey Wayne! I didn't know you went to Full Sail! So cool. I live in Orlando... I've hung out there, and worked for years. We've probably passed by each other. Thanks for this video! Hope all is well

Damn bro just almost finished the video. Thank you for really caring about what you’re teaching us! I don’t think theres a better teacher out there. Appreciate all you teaching me. Every Mixer or engineer I’ve found on here is always making it about selling me something and its all based around what they are selling but I’m grateful that you put the teaching and care of us First! and then put the selling secondary. Many “teachers” need to learn your style. Congrats on all your success Wayne. And thanks again for all your help!

Is it bad to say I mix my songs in the car. I usually take my laptop to the car. Hook the laptop to the radio with the auxiliary cord and mix in there. When I do that my mixes be sounding good everywhere from earbuds to club speakers. For years I been doing this.

Spot on man!👍🙏...you touched briefly on frequency which I'd love to hear you get more in depth on, perhaps ear fatigue as well. I've found that most cases of excessive clipping, distortion and frequency clashes are the product of trying to get that mix slapping but your ears are so blown out after 4-5-6 hrs of messing around in loopland that it's nearly impossible to distinguish saturation from clipping.

Great video brother. Truly appreciate you sharing what you had to learn and pay for cause I know how much FS cost..lol. but I used to put my FX on a send but I found myself liking the sound of putting it directly on the channel strip lately but only reverbs. I have to say if someone like you don't do that then I'll def have to re-think that now.

Yep I am guilty of doing at least 2 or 3 of them in the past… over kill on equipment, not getting started on projects and not spending as much time reading equipment manuals or I jump to a different piece of gear before mastering the last piece… started taking some pro duction classes at Berklee the course work has up my game on all levels, expensive but worth it . they really make you learn your stuff.

Dope videos learned a lot from here ! I was wondering about the clipping part if you have a compressor on the recording track to help prevent clipping is that okay ? Or I’m I better off lowering the level on the mic . I use the compressor just incase someone starts getting loud in the middle of the verse or things like that Good lookin on all the work you put out💪🏽

Yo Wavy……Quick question…..I will eventually be swapping out my IMac with the M1 Max MB Pro as my main studio computer. I have the Apollo X6 as well. Will the Caldigit TS4 Thunderbolt dock handle to Apollo if I connect it to the TS4? Or do you recommend another type of Thunderbolt dock for the X6?

man i only got 1 tip. mix for your artist. if your artist has a vision, mix so u fit that vision. there are no rules to this shit. people think having ultra clean mixes is always ideal but its not. rock music is a great example, like u can rly make that shit sound however u want. just satisfy your client

Crap, I have all these problems (except the multiple playback options).
@cpthegenius2 жыл бұрын
I think another beginner mistake people make is placing too many effects on their vocal chain without making sure the vocal itself is clean first. It's like trying to put cologne on after the gym without having taken a shower. Flangers, doublers, fancy filters and all that is cool but not when it's on a dull, lifeless vocal mix.

While Wavy Wayne is Certified and a graduate from Full Sail University. His focus and energy is into his brand, youtube, and role as a public figure. Learning techniques from someone who isn't in the studio day in and day out is what's wrong with youtube teachings. His site doesn't showcase any of his mixes. There's mentions of credits but no sections dedicated to those credits. Full sail is a great school with a lot of opportunities, but they also birth these socialites who just end up using the schools clout to become public figures. There's a difference between pro tools operators who create youtube videos and audio enginners who make a living audio engineering....
