@@coffeebuxyeah I was so confused buying a Bible on Amazon like 2-3/months ago…. So many versions idk 🤷‍♂️??? Of course I picked the (KJV) 🤦‍♂️… so hard to contextually dissect old English words that aren’t used anymore. I’ve read so many chapters that just go way over my head, should I get ESV or NIV?

@greg6162 ESV is the better option compared to NIV, and easy to understand. However, as you grow in your relationship with God and His word you will be able to understand KJV a lot more. I personally use NKJV, but a year ago I wouldn't have been able to even understand that.

​@@greg6162 Hi, there! I understand the ESV is more of a textual translation (word for word) while the NIV is a dynamic translation (thought for thought). They're both good; the ESV might seem a bit more formal, like a KJV without the archaic words, while the NIV may sound more modern. Some people like to have several translations and compare verses while studying. In the end, as someone once said, the best Bible is the one you actually read. Blessings!

Even us that have been studying the Bible for decades and even the same chapter for decades God will still reveal something new to us that we've never seen before. God will lead you and reveal what He wants you to catch. Just do what He's showing you it says now and keep studying and don't think "Oh yeah I read that chapter or verse lots of times I'll just skip over it." Because God will reveal something you've never noticed before because the Word and God is so amazing like that.

I use an app in addition to my Life Church apps that replaces your cell phone update with Bible prompts and it sets prayers and Scripture for the morning and the evening! It keeps chiming until you open it or snooze it, but you must open it to stop it and when you open it there is a bible verse waiting. It asks your mood and gives you a verse and prayer prompts for how your day went in the evening and that has kept me on schedule. The YouVersion Bible I have used for reading the translation that works for me and audio as well, and I have a separate reading app that allows me to easily mark how many times I have read each chapter. I hope it gets easier. I had to struggle as well to get used to charging through the Old Testament, but it has been totally worth it. Once you get going, it becomes like a habit and makes the day better. If the reading is difficult, do know that you can listen to the audio Bible. I sometimes put on one Book on repeat and fall asleep and wake up to it. That has helped as well! Peace, family!

Oh I am so happy we are doing this! I have been in and out of crisis for the past month and I have been in deep deep pain emotionaly and spiritually and it has been battle after battle. I highly recommend looking at the Bible Project started by Tim Mackie and Jon Collins. They have a KZbin series and website doing deep dives into books of the Bible with historical context and intent. It’s creative, enlightening, and a great way to understand the grace of Jesus from a biblical perspective as one cohesive story.
