New subscriber here love the videos. Wanted your insight on the yz over the KTM. I’m new to the sport and it seems most enduro riders go for the KTMs. Would love to hear your thoughts as someone who wants a yz. Thanks

Hey Dan, sorry about the delay! Thanks for the support. Honestly man, whatever bike you get you're going to be happy... The yzs are great, lots of people love their ktms. My advice is buy what you want/can afford, and spend your time riding it and don't get sucked down the forum rabbit holes where people spend every waking moment trying ti improve a bike they never ride :P The best riders in the world would kick our butt on a scooter from 1975, its all about seat time!The reason I love my yz is it's less expensive than the Austrian bikes, parts are cheap and easy to get and seriously the YZs are bulletproof. Biggest downfall is no electric start, but for the majority of people electric start is a convenience NOT a necessity.

What do you think about the jacket type protective shirts that integrate check back shoulders and forearms? And are under jersey chest protector they way to go? What about a base layer?

When it comes to protection, and especially chest/body protection you're always going to be trying to strike a balance between comfort vs. protection. And by comfort I mean breathability and freedom of movement. If you're just starting out and don't necessarily need the added performance of something light duty, I would advise leaning on the side of protection. The type of riding plays a factor too. When I ride hard enduro (slower speeds) I go with my Leatt airflex under jersey protector. When I am riding motocross (faster/higher risk) I wear my Leatt 3.5 Body Armour. When I ride highspeed or when there are lots of sharp rocks I typically think to myself, I wish I had football gear on lol. Keep me posted mate, hopefully this helps? Always happy to answer questions!

You could almost make levels from this.. I mean idealy, you should have everything, but you NEED boots and helmet, bare minimum. Elbow pads, knee pads, chest protector is the next big step, if you are riding more then like 4 times a year, and faster then 20km/h. You described a guy going into a shop and dropping 12k on a bike, but I feel like a lot of the riders arent that, and are trying to get into it for the bare minimum. So to those people, if your going further then your mailbox, buy more then just a helmet and boots. From the protection stage, dirtbike specific goggles, pants, jersey and gloses are a good thing to get into. Love the video though, will defiantly keep up with the series

Out of the all the pants and jerseys which ones do you like most? I’ve been looking at the 4.5 Enduro stuff.
@JasonHamborg

Hmm, the 5.5 stuff is rad cause it's so stretchy. The 4.5 is a little more "traditional" materials wise. The enduro stuff has pockets which is a huge + for some people!!

Before u were running the xc dome Now the mx ? What would u recommend for enduro ? Wich dome
@JasonHamborg
@JasonHamborg Жыл бұрын
You're correct. Currently running the MX. It's just a bit more "punchy" than the xc which I like, but remains manageable for traction is very technical terrain. The difference between xc and mx is subtle, you'll be happy with either for enduro. Mx is more of a traditional 2 stroke feel, xc makes things more linear compared to a standard 2 stroke power curve.

As I mentioned I wanna say that ~300 range is where you start to get into the realm of quality. That being said, lots of the online retailers often have amazing sales on last years models... so you can get a $500 lid for $250. I think the biggest different you want to look for is the Rotational Impact technology that better helmets have nowadays. I think that 250-300 range is where you start to get into that realm. After that is starts to become about comfort things like weight, ventilations and quality of the materials used. I am hyper aware of my helmets... got sponsored when I was 17 and got a free lid that was from a lower end company... fell over in a corner (not really going very fast) and managed to get a really bad concussion. I still deal with side affects 15 years later. So since then I have always been conscious of what helmet I put my head into.
