I like how pros are supportive of beginners and don’t expect money from it. I bought my first guitar yesterday despite my dads wishes. He’s against me learning guitar and definitely isn’t supportive of getting me guitar lessons. I’m all on my own here and I’m glad there’s stuff like this out there.

Lemme guess your father might be very religious?
@johannaappleforest74822 жыл бұрын
@@theantianimeassociation7574 kinda. idk we don’t go to church or anything and he rarely mentions religion at all, it’s probably just cause he’s 67 and from a time period where women were below men and had jobs like cooking, cleaning etc. he has 3 ex-wives and every time he meets a new girl he acts all nice then a few months later yells about house work and womanly duties. So yeah he sees guitar as a boy instrument and violin as a girl’s instrument. Except he expects me to go to college and get an education and not be a housewife, so it’s confusing, yet is also like ‘you can only wear dresses, ponytails, pink colored short nails, mascara, pink lipstick, violin’ etc. He also yells at me to learn to cook. LIKE WHAT DO YOU WANT BRO I’m 19 now and he prohibited me from learning to drive and stuff so I need to find out how to run away somewhere.

I don't know if you are going you are going to read this but I just want to share this. 3 years ago, I got my first gutiar, and the absolute first video I watched after I came home was this video. I am so glad that it was my first guitar lesson. It set me on the right track to learn how to play guitar, and most importantly HAVE FUN. Now after 3 years and countless hours of practicing, I now am into modern metal and jazz fusion. I am spending my time practicing Jason Richardson and John petrucci songs as well as writing my own material. I can't thank Marty enough for what he has done for me and countless other people. Thank you so much for making all these videos for people to watch for free. And to all the people that just started playing guitar and stumbled across this video. You will improve at guitar. No matter how difficult it may be at times, don't be discouraged. You just have to give it some time and practice. You will certainly be able to play crazy sweep picking licks and shred like nobody's business. It just takes some practice. But most importantly, remember to have fun. You will be able to play how you imagine yourself playing in your dreams as I have done the same thing. Thank you Marty. Without you, I wouldn't have gotten to this point. Cheers!

Since sometime before Christmas he went from zero to wow the boy can play electric and acoustic. So I decided to join him. I bought myself a real nice les Paul by a Canadian company. I did your first free lesson tonight. My finger and forearm are tired and sore but I am happy and motivated. Thank you for taking the anxiety and fear out of learning. I never thought I would do this at 55. When my son started playing we connected on the music of my youth , Led Zeppelin, SRV, Stones, Kansas.... the list goes on. He motivated me and your helping me get there. Thanks for helping me share music and time with my son.

If you’re about to buy your first guitar, i would really recommend an Epiphone or squier. They are cheap and will serve you well. My first electric was a squier strat, and I have had it for over 2 years, and done some modifications to it, and it’s becoming a real dream guitar. You don’t need expensive gear to be good at guitar

It takes off a lot of pressure and at the same time of learning, it's more fun, relaxing . Not scary with the thought and anxiety of 'what if I can't do this?" So simple, thank you.

@@rajatjain5436 If you want to play electric instead of acoustic then start today!! They are very different instruments, people often think they should start on acoustic and then "graduate" to electric. If anything it should be the other way round, electric guitars are much easier to play and you can get a good sound like your favourite guitarists just using a few notes and chords. For example the intro to "Satisfaction", 3 notes on one string and you're a rock star!!

Thanks! Absolutely learned stuff. I am not a musician, but I like to make things. I found an interesting YT about making Native American style flutes…after watching about 8 videos I ran across a bamboo grove in a riverbed. I made some garbage, until I made a few that had what I thought was a good tone. I was doing this while driving a bus route that afforded me 15-30 minute breaks periodically. Gave some away, and some passengers wanted to buy them. One person I gave one to because he is a musician, and thought he might give me feed back, instead gave me an electric guitar with an amp. Now I am starting to explore this wholly new thing to me. Thanks for the newb love!

Hey Marty here's an idea for Beginner guitar players who are not really interested in learning anything beyond the basics but want to be able to play with the least amount time and effort, you can make a whole series on it and maybe call it The Lazy Guitarist or The Impatient Guitarist. OPEN TUNINGS (with or without a Capo) particularly Open G. There's a guy from England you might have heard of who has written more hit songs and became a multi-millionaire with the Open G tuning than anyone else and a lot of time he did it with just 5 strings, Keith Richards. There's almost a endless amount of Rolling Stones songs in that tuning and most can be played with just 1 finger and 2 or 3 easy shapes, if they get bored with those you can show them what they can do when they add a Slide to Open G. Not just Open G but Open E and D, DADGAD tunings. One thing just about every beginner has in common is patience should say lack of, but once they learn a few songs or a few bars then they want to learn more and more complex things. Anyway it's just an idea.
