I’m so glad I started the Farseer trilogy two years ago based on your recommendation. I’m a true RH fan girl now too! I just finished the Fitz and the Fool trilogy and my heart is shattered. So freaking good. The sequel to Middlegame comes out this week! I can’t wait. The Jade City trilogy was excellent too. There’s a supplemental book coming out soon! The Jadesetter of Janloon!

Thanks for the rec. I'm not a beginner at all and I'm more into old school dense epic fantasy such as "The Dragonlance Chronicles", "Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn" series, or "Elric of Melniboné" series, "The song of Albion"... Although my favourites of all the times are Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels. They are my comfort novels. I tried to read newer fantasy books such as Bardugo's works (because of the hype), but I speak Russian and I found her use of Russian inspired terminology stupid and the plot predictable. I'm going to try your recommendations since they really sound awesome! Thanks! ☺️

I started reading the Farseer trilogy last month and each book is better than the previous one. If her next trilogies in the world of the Realm of the Elderings are as good or even better , I think I will easily become a huge Robin Hobb fangirl myself. Right now I need more Hobb in my life ! 🙃

I have been a fantasy lover for most of my life, but I still watched this for recs. I am curious about the conversations around queerness you mentioned in She Who Became the Sun, as historically, China wasn't always so homophobic (though it was mostly male-centetered, so not sure how it pertained to women). I haven't read the book though, so I don't actually know the context you're referring to.
@ChristianRumi2 жыл бұрын
haven't read it, but I believe it centres on a daughter masquerading as a son, so that may be the aspect she is talking about. I think the author left a comment on Goodreads clarifying some details too
@feylights1662 жыл бұрын
@@ChristianRumi From what i heard, there is also a sapphic romance in it, so that's probably an aspect, too. Regan mentioned conversations around sexuality, so I'm wondering if modern sensibilities were used, or if the views of 14th c. China were taken into account. I guess I'll have to read it and find out lol.

The country in Spinning Silver is inspired by Lithuania, not Russia (just like Uprooted takes place in Poland). This is because the author is of Polish-Lithuanian descent. It's important for most of us from Central-Eastern Europe not to be confused with Russians, because there's a lot of bad blood there.

@PeruseProject2 жыл бұрын
I love the romance in it! it's my weakness
@jaycieashland41812 жыл бұрын
I guess I just feel like the romance part is implied to happen after. More of a "they will fall in love" ending than a "they have fallen in love" ending, which is what I would consider more romance. By the end of the book the main characters have only just decided to tolerate their "love interests" as opposed to continuing trying to kill them off lol.
@lauraleger2 жыл бұрын
I agree I was so disappointed by it because I was expecting so much more in term of romance
@SingASongOfHope532 жыл бұрын
Same! I went into this a few years ago expecting the "romance" I was told was there to play a much larger role. It really doesn't exist at all. I was disappointed as it was recommended as a fantasy romance, I think there are other better recs for this category. Still a good book just not the sub-genre I'd put it in.
