Jim, this is a great example of how to tie in the wings. I really wish this video had been available when I first tried to learn how to do this from a written description in a book. It wasn’t until I joined a fly tying club & someone walked me through the steps that I could finally do it. Those big eye hooks are great not just for eyesight issues, but also for tying on flies in dim light or when it’s cold enough for your fingers to be a little shaky.

You are doing great for many tyers, Jim. Thank you for that. No offence now, but one of the first rules from my maestro, the late Dane, Preben Torp Jacobsen was: never place more thread laps than needed, and place every lap as tight as the thread allows. I see a light breach from this rule also from distinguished artists, and I'm also quite a bit sceptical of using the thread holder/roller as the guide for placing the laps - yeah, I know that everybody does so, I don't have to support that usage for that. As you direct your vids towards beginner, I'd advice that you check my points of views seriously; we should all work towards continual improvements.
