@Jovial JIA Hi, Thus far I,ve lost 5 kg without altering my diet much (I try to limit my snacks to Wednesdays and Sundays, but with the lockdown it's been much harder. I haven't gained weight with the my larger snack intake). However, I try not to focus to much on my weight since the exercise is very focussed on enhancing strength and I have build quite a bit of muscle since I've started. I rather focus on my size. My pants have fallen with about a size and a half, while my shirt has gone down with one size. I have also lost quite a bit of weight around my bust since my cup is also down a size. I find that looking at how my clothes fit helps keep me more motivated than my weightloss, since it doesn't really reflect my progress as well. I would strongly recomend this routine, I have altered it a lot since I've maxed most of it which should give you a good indication of how effective it is in enhancing strength.

Oh my god thank you. Most of these workout videos out there for beginners often end up being too difficult for us, and it's really discouraging when you're struggling on moves meant to be easy. Love how you take the time to show us how we can start easier if we're struggling, and make it more challenging once we're comfortable, it makes it so much more motivating!

I have been bouldering now for 3 months and I'm trying to break through my plateau that exists simply because it's hard to support my own weight with my hands on a slope. I am so grateful for this information, I figured calisthenics would really help me crack harder climbing problems.

Loved this format. It was easy to listen to the instructions, pause the video, do my set, then return for the next exercise. This avoided spoiling my form, trying to watch you while doing my set. Plus, it allowed me to leave the room and do the tricep dips on the stairs. I really enjoyed this!!! I used to be fit and strong with grit and determination, but health issues (physical and mental) over the past few years have knocked the stuffing out of me, after listening to your story I now feel ready to get back on track. I'm 60 this year and I do hear some creaking of my joints (particularly knees and shoulders) but I feel positive that by following your lead and listening to my body I will soon see a move towards where I left off. My main goal is to feel strong again (both physically and mentally) and to regain my shape. Thank you Lucy for your inspiration and great easy to follow instruction.

Would love a follow along. And thanks for making a beginner workout that doesn't include full pull or pushups! Yes I know I can just adjust exercises myself to my level. But as a beginner I think it is much easier to remember proper form when I see someone doing the same exercise as me.

4 yrs later there still isn't a lot of stuff for women... most of it is aimed at guys... plan on starting calisthenics to build my core back up after 3 kids... my hubby is now disabled and I find I'm seriously lacking in my ability to do normal things especially after 11 yrs with an eating disorder... I'm in recovery and gaining weight and I need to build muscle and my strength back desperately.. I've always had body image issues and I need to do something to get myself in a better head space to continue in my recovery.. this style of working out has been an interest since I found out about it and I'm excited to finally start getting into it...

Perhaps you need a buddy to go with who is also new. Try asking the gym owner if there is a place for new gym goers to partner up. I need a buddy as well. I am currently struggling to go to the gym today. I went last night. Although, it wasn't a tough enough workout. I need to actually go sweat today.

Loved it! I just discovered calisthenics and I am so grateful! I just had my second baby in december, I’m 35 and more determined than ever to be in my best shape ever. I did vinyasa yoga on and off and I find that calisthenics have lots of similar moves but require more work and strength. I love how just like in yoga you use only your body. That’s the beauty of it in my opinion and I believe it also gives us a stronger mind.

Thank you so so much for this!!! I am in the worst shape of my life. Underweight, no muscle, chronic back pain..because of a lot of stress in my life the last 1,5 years i completely gave up, i have no mental strenght anymore to take care of myself.. and like you said - all the "beginner friendly" workout videos were wayyyy to difficult for me. So after 2 or 3 days i gave up everytime... But this workout is amazing. It doesnt hurt or make me nauseous! You motivate me to take care of myself again, and give me hope. Thank you so much!! (Sorry english is not my first language haha)

I just found you on KZbin and Instagram and your genuine care and best interests for your audience shines so brightly! It has really encouraged me to give Calisthenics a go - I feel I am at the “before beginner” stage if that’s even a thing haha I have created a lifestyle of good nutrition and now I want to get super fit and strong! I gave this workout a go and got through the warm up and ONE around and I’m dead! So sweaty and exhausted but proud I got that far.
