These knots are very pretty. One thing the square knot braid though it may be called that isn't in fact made up of square knots those are overhand knots, a square knot is made when you tie one overhand knot going one way say right over left and then you tie another one the other way left over right. I think a braid actually made of square knots would be very pretty as well.

Wow I have never heard of some of these braids. You are so talented when it comes to braiding. When I worked in the salon I taught a class on basic braiding. I've always loved to braid. Love you tutorials.

This channel is great! I just started watching it and I'm feeling super excited to try some of these interesting braids. My hair is super long but I've been falling out of love with it recently and I don't think I've ever actually styled it before in my life. I was just never interested in any of the hair styles I saw on other people. I'm sort of appreciating my own hair again thanks to these tutorials. :)

A show I think you would like and has a lot of interesting hair styles is a show called Merlin. I would love it if you could do some hair styles from Merlin!! Great jog as always!!

could you put the links for the tutorial of the braid in the title photo (is it called like this? the photo shown before you click on the video) in the description? It would be really helpfull, because I'd really like to recreate some of these, for example this video and the french braid beginner tutorial. Thank you so much for all your tutorials!

Is it advisable to braid your hair while wet? my hair is so frizzy. are there any negatives?
@silvousplaits8 жыл бұрын
There are pros and cons - it certainly controls frizz well, and braiding wet then undoing the braid can give a nice wave pattern. You'll just want to use braids with larger strands, since hair is weaker when wet and small stranded braids give you higher risk of snapping strands.

Thanx Silvousplaits, I'll take that advice to heart :-)

Idle question, how easy is it to take this out? I've got very fine butt-length hair ( and no intention of cutting it anytime soon) which means it knots extremely easy at the ends.
@silvousplaits6 жыл бұрын
With straight hair, I find it even easier to take out than a three strand braid. Straight hair very much wants to lie straight. With curly hair it'll need a little more care, but if you're doing a knot braid with large sections it won't be any trouble.

Alright then it definitely goes on the list of hairdos to try out! My hair is straight as an arrow

In the preview image, it looks like you did maybe a french square knot braid, but that it's tucked under. Is that correct? I didn't see it in the video. Can you do a video on how to tuck a braid or do you have advice? I think you mentioned it on a Stark tutorial, but anytime I try to tuck it, it loosens the bottom parts of my hair too much and ends up looking puffy and sloppy. :( My hair is about mid-shoulder blade length, thick, and wavy (bordering on curly), if it helps.
@KateandBree8 жыл бұрын
It's tucked under. The trick to this is making sure you add hair evenly, especially the bottom sections. This gives you a nice channel which to tuck hair into. My favorite way to tuck hair is personally braiding to the ends, rolling the ends up to the base loosely and then carefully tucking it up into the channel up the braid. Your main braid will puff up a bit and the bottom will loosen a little; it's an inevitability considering your adding mass under the hair. How much it puffs up will depend on how much hair you have and its thickness; you have thicker hair so it won't look like Shannon's as her hair - while much longer - is thinner, but that's okay! It's not messy or ugly because it has puffed up! Just take your time to make sure the hair you tuck under is evenly dispersed before you pin it in place.
