A practical question: are you going through a compressor in this recording? The sound is great :)
@OnlineBassCourses
@OnlineBassCourses 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! No EQ or compression. I usually record audio for these videos going straight into Logic via an Avalon U5.

Thanks for this great tutorial, I'm quite struggling with my thumb as I'm playing with an acoustic bass with no amplifier, can that be the reason why? Cheers 👍
@OnlineBassCourses
@OnlineBassCourses 4 жыл бұрын
I reckon that could be a big reason, yes. The action and strings could make it more difficult than on a standard fretted. It might lead you to play with more force than you need to (especially without an amp).

@@OnlineBassCourses I should to go through 3 years of lessons which I haven't yet, but maybe an idea could be a video about playing an acoustic bass and/or playing with a pick. What does it change, what kind of styles are suitable for, what sort of warnings about it and so on... I know it's quite specific but you cover a lot in just one video, so I guess that in all your videos there's so much and very few topics left... Thanks again! Also for your kindness 👍

Hi Dan, I’m ok with the E string for loudness of the slap but the other strings are so much quieter , how to fix? Just practice right?
@OnlineBassCourses
@OnlineBassCourses Жыл бұрын
That’s normal and it’s a touch thing. You’ll get used to the pressure you need to apply. And yes - practice and time spent on the technique is key!

What about the muting the B string with the right hand on 5-string bass? Or just use the left hand technique to mute it?

This is great Man!! Questions tho... your tone and mine are very different. Other than you playing flawlessly, how much does string height/type, amp setup, which pickup is turned up, P vs J bass, etc... I'm sure just playing and finding this tone will show up as I go but any help on this end would be awesome! Recent SUB, love the channel brother, keep it up!!!
@OnlineBassCourses
@OnlineBassCourses 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the nice words! Yes, all of that matters. I like a low action (but no string buzz), I'm using Elites Players which are quite new, and I have both pickups on. That gives me a nice fat tone. This was recorded with no EQ or compression or amp: just straight into an Avalon U5---> UA Apollo---> Logic. Hope that helps 👍
