Beginner Nitro Helicopter Engine Tuning - Aaron Smith

Short video on a few BASIC methods of tuning your motor. All manuevers are basic and easy to fly. There's no exact way to tune as there are so many factors. So this video is very brief and basic to not overwhelm you as a beginner. Always tune from rich to lean. As you fly more you will develop your own method. This motor shown is well used and about due for a rebuild. As you will see with a base tune it still can produce. Shown is a Novarossi 57HR-3DS v2 governed at 2300HS. When I used to drive nitro cars and trucks I swore by a temp gun but when I got good I noticed the temp doesn't give you a great tune it just keeps you in a certain parameter which is helpful for the new tuner. Once you get a feel on how much smoke you see and where your power band is at and how the engine sounds between full throttle and idle, it makes you a much better tuner and eventually you won't need the temp gun. I ran Novarossi until they stopped making them. I squeaked even more power running a Os55 carb

when you say 4 clicks on your HSN is it 4 notches?

@@edvaldez3926 yes 4 clicks on the needle valve. Now alot has to do with my altitude ect..... but id you only do 1-2 most likely you wont notice the chamge. So i go 4 which i will for sure see the. Go from there
