Good tutorial video. I have a question What is the factory settings on a nitro car with the carb settings and tick over screws As I have messed around with mine and rc car just zooms off by its self after using easy start to get it going. Glo plug OK and hump pack fully charged got nitro fuel going in

@21:12 you cracked me up. "Its fiddly,... so F-ing get used to it. SOOOO True. But the thing that gets me most is the glow plug. Air/fuel ratio, ok, compression, ok un blocked air flow in and out of the engine and these things WANT to run. But the glow plug can glow nice and orange with the battery, but, when ya pull the battery the engine stalls.

Also worth checking your idle screw gap,seen people trying to start an engine with a fully closed carb,only other reason I can think of is your low speed needle is too lean not letting enough fuel in or too rich otherwise you pretty much covered it good video👍🏻

how to fix the loose coil spring in the pug if it pops loose at the connection were it was welded ? i have a good plug but the wires poped off the plug at the end . solder will work or melt inside and ruin my engine? please need answer how the plugs are made. or can be repaired in my case. thanks.

I'm struggling to get my xtm xcelerator started iv got a spark and fuel is flowing ok it's all priming ok ? But one problem I have is the throttle arm isn't connected so the throttle only has a tiny gap its a rotery carb and I can't adjust it for sum reason! It's missing the the little af sized nut that fastens the throttle olarm in place I have on on order fro Italy so waiting for that to arrive but was hoping to get it started as the fuel arrived today but it wont start ? Im guess I need to rotate the carb some how so that it's open ?

stupid question: how do you know the engine is at BDC to drain it if it is flooded, do you have a mark on the flywheel or something? or can you just guess, how do you know? The flashpoint of Nitro is 35 degrees C.

I’ve got an OS 46cc helicopter engine. I’ve tried everything there and it’s still not starting. It was flooding and I found the problem to be the servo needed reversing as it was trying to start full throttle. However I rectified that today. But still no luck. Glow plug is fine, new fuel and it’s obviously getting into the engine. It seems to have good compression as it’s broken the shear pin on the starter shaft twice. You can hear it try and load up as it’s spinning on the drill but it just won’t fire. The needle valve is set as per manual. I believe the gap is right on the carby. Kind of lost with this one. Is there a way to actually check the compression even though you can feel the air coming out of the exhaust when trying to start.

Is it something like an OS 46 AXII? If you’ve tried everything by the book now’s the time to start outside the book… Put a new plug in it and try that, and try putting some fuel directly down the carb too. There’s not really (as far as I know) effective ways to test compression on Nitro engines.

My gxr wont start it was running fine the other day today it kept firing but not running so i returned all needles to factory settings and now it doesnt even give a sputter.. I am afraid i damaged the engine because a few days ago the air filter fell of and i didnt notice. I searched for the filter and started it up at home with a good filter it ran perfectly fine... Today the weather was a little bit warmer but it shoulf have fired right up. My glow plug works perfectly too. Any ideas?

Yeah hi mate mine has got compression mine has got a good glow plug and fuel and where the so it's not blocked I have got cereal glow plugs I have tried but I haven't got the only thing I can think it could be what the glow plug screws cos it ignites it doesn't it and keeps it alight you know if you know what I and it's the same ftx that you've got

I am not new to Nitro but I am having an issue I haven't seen before. I just got a Serpent SRX8 RTR Buggy and I have no problem starting it but when I remove igniter it dies. I have checked the glow plug and it's good, I don't have any air leaks, the only thing I have noticed is when it was running it seemed lean. There was blue smoke coming from the exhaust but no oil. I am going to try again tomorrow and richen up the LSN, if that doesn't work I have a new engine I can put in and try that

Glo plugs will go bad, they are coated in platinum and that platinum can get burned off over time,or run too lean.

Hi, I bought myself a nitro car for xmas, i done all the prep work, and sure enough without fail it started bril..... then i adjusted a screw on the low end of the engine to try make it idle slower,,, big mistake now it wont start, i took it today to my local rc shop left it there 3 hours they said all done charged me £24 quid, took it home still wont start at all again :( i have primed the engine, charged the starter and the glow plug is fine,,, please pleae help :(

If you’re sure the glow plug is working and your starter is charged then use a hair dryer to warm the engine up, sometimes they need a bit of warming before they’ll start. Also try to put the needle back to where it was.
