This is a fabulous tutorial series! One of the best I've seen throughout my new journey of trying to learn to quilt later in this game of life! Thank you!

Thank you for this video! Truthfully I had skipped to the backing portion of your video. It has been a little while since I had done anything bigger than baby/crib blanket. So I was drawing a blank on figuring out the backing for a bigger blanket that's not wide fabric.

@@emilywhetzel6760 I’m so glad this was helpful! I was hoping, when I created this series, that it would be a useful tool to skip around to be able to find whatever you needed answered. Thanks for your comment!

Thanks again for the simple and clear demonstration! I haven't started an actual quilt yet, I'm working on a pieced casserole hot pad, but I'm using these steps to learn as I work my way up to the quilt! You're a great teacher, thank you :o)

Did I miss advice about directional fabrics for backing?
@southernsewingco3 ай бұрын
@@donnar.9244 I don’t think I included this and that’s an excellent point! Fabric directionality can vary from fabric to fabric so the first step would be checking to see if the print runs along the length of the selvage or perpendicular to it! Let me work on a video for this. Thank you!
@donnar.92443 ай бұрын
@@southernsewingco Thx! I think before pinning selvages together, one side needs to turned to have them both going same direction. Thanks again for your teachings

Do you cut the binding off the 3 yards Before cutting the 3 yards for the backing or is it 3 yards total for the backing?
@southernsewingco10 ай бұрын
Hey! You do need 3 yards total for the backing and 1/2 yard for binding. If you purchased these together at the fabric store (3.5 yards) go ahead and cut (5) 2.25” strips, then the rest is used for backing! Sorry for the confusion here.

My painters tape doesn't want to stick to my fabric...???
@southernsewingco9 ай бұрын
Oh no!!!! I can see how that would be frustrating! I know duct tape works just as well but it may leave residue on your floor which I learned the hard way😂.
