This is sort of a candle making crash course for beginners to get you headed on the right track. We overview the supplies/materials, candle making process, testing, and some other important tips. This is NOT a tutorial. However, there are several of those here on this channel. This video is more of a Candle Making 101 type ... sort of a playful lecture. So sit back, take notes, and watch multiple times if you'd like. Its best to get the basics fundamentals in your head before just diving right in.

Wade you are heaven scent (lol) for me. I was all over the candle world, testing fragrance oils, wicks, jars and went crazy the 1st year. Now I’m in the second year and your advice to step back, breathe and reset was the best advice I heard. I slowed down and restarted and now, my candles are burning great, minimal soot and I’ve made a lot of progress, all because of you. Thanks and keep up the wonderful work.

Just a quick note ... If you're in the UK (and most of Europe) you can't sell candles that have been made up of more than one preexisting fragrance oil without it going through lab tests and have the stamp of approval. Rules on this are far more relaxed in the US.

It would be nice to have a video on packaging, labels, I'm in Canada, but to know where you recommend customizing boxes, is it worth it, label qualities, textured labels, etc. Jars... do you prefer clear or amber... how do you know which scents to bring in... where do you market research what your customers want... candle science explains scents by state, but we have none of this in Canada. Love your videos.

Wade I have a question about container lids. I bought the Pewter Daisy lids off of CS. I didn't think about this earlier but I realized the lids have big holes as part of their design. I'm wondering if the candles with this kind of lid won't need any other structure to block the candle from being exposed to air? Like can I just leave the candles with hole-y lid and nothing else? The dust and stuff won't cause issue?

Love all your content, tips, knowledge which are very helpful for someone like me who recently opened an Etsy store 2 weeks ago, YAYYY 🎉 You were the second I watched after Jasmine from Blk sunflower episode on UpFlip. I can't wait to learn and grow and be as successful as you guys.... slowly but steady💪

Stumbled upon your video while I was doing research to start my candle business/hustle😂 but I'm doing it from Beijing. Have an idea, if your interested I could help you source & import your materials from China to improve your margins n what not.

The tarts don’t pop out nice and a pillar candle is sticky.

@@NolineWalls oh yeah, that is a container candle wax. You will want a pillar or tart wax. Try Problend 650, Pillar of Bliss, MB 150 or C55 wax

Do you know on average, how much faster a candle burns if it has 2 wicks. Say a 3.5 diameter candle. 1 wick vs 2 wicks?

when you make an 8 oz candle it only holds 6~oz of wax, so when you go to label it and sell it, Do you label it as a 6oz candle or an 8 oz candle ? it would be 6 right? not 100%

It was a super overview video because I have detailed videos on that exact topic. It's hard to tell me people what to choose because it depends on so many factors. If I included all that in this video it would been like 2 hours so try to offer those additional details in more focused videos. 😁

Hello, I’m going crazy watching how everyone measures out wax and fragrance for one or several candles. What is your formula? There has to be a simple way😢😮😢

I’m lost and tired of scrolling through sites and channels - I’ve been burning religious candles for ages and I’ve not thrown away the tall narrow glass jars. Instead if buying more I would like to reuse them but I’m overwhelmed and not seeing anyone reusing these … all I have come up with thus far is: soy for beginners (I think) and I measured an existing wick and it’s 1mm. Look doesn’t matter. Smell doesn’t matter, I only care that it burns a long time. These are/were 7 hr candles. I would be grateful for any input …
