Fun build but you can buy a 12 volt 400 AH server rack battery for $1499 . I think they need to lower their prices to be competitive.

Really cool kit, I like this. I need to build a couple 48v batteries later this year. I think I’ll get the 300 ah eve cells like these. That’s a lot of power in a small package.

Do you really need more power Gavin? Lol you already have a massive system 😂 keep up the great work Buddy 👍
@GavinStoneDIY
@GavinStoneDIY 2 жыл бұрын
@@Roll2Videos you always need more power! I’m not sure how the system will hold up in the winter with less sun actually. Plus I just really want the experience of building my own battery. The price of raw cells seems to be dropping a bit due to all the affordable server rack batteries on the market they are competing with. So it’s probably a good time to purchase some.

So how are you liking these lithium batteries compared to the 18650 batteries? I’m looking to start off with a budget friendly setup using the 18650 batteries then stepping up down the road. Where you Able to set up your battery system in such a manner that during the evening you’re able to discharge the batteries by using some sort of gridiron murder and then during the daytime they are charged back up using solar?
@Roll2Videos
@Roll2Videos 2 жыл бұрын
I like working with LifePO4 cell much better, safer longer life span more products on the market 👍 I only use 18650 for small stuff like garden solar lights portable fans drill batteries etc... I will never use them inside the home. I have other videos building and using LifePO4 batteries in my off grid trailer check them out 👍😁
@Wrensspeedshop
@Wrensspeedshop 2 жыл бұрын
How did you see or would you compare the price difference between the different battery types? It seems to me like the 18 650s you would have to buy a lot more of which you could spread out over time and slowly build up your power wall as opposed to the their lifePO4 that you’re running seem to be more expensive than once, is that the case?
@Roll2Videos
@Roll2Videos 2 жыл бұрын
@@Wrensspeedshop that is true but long term 18650 have 800-500 charge cycles if you charge and discharge everyday that's about 2 years. LifePO4 has about 3000-4000 which is about 10 years. Also you want to match your batteries cells if you add batteries to ones that are already used you could run into problems

@@Wrensspeedshop the only reason why I built this battery is because I got my cells for free I contacted a laptop repair shop and got batteries for free took them apart and salvage them.

If you are completely determined on going this route I would watch @lithiumsolar older videos. Especially the one on fusing you 18650 pack.

You can serious connect for a 48 volt pack. I don't believe there is a limitation on parallel connections. Thank you for the question 🙂

It also depends on the BMS you are using. The JBD in this video can do 48v

@@Roll2Videos To build a 24 volt system I would need 2 @ $2970 not bad but I could get a server rack battery 200 AH 24 volt for $1500 ready to go. I'm not sure why they think these are such a good buy?

one problem with this kit is. If you buy the cells from them with the kit you're looking at almost $1400 for a 12v battery. the eve batteries for 4 of them is like $400 on Alibaba , BMS is $50 ish dollars . If you're going to build a battery yourself they are much much cheaper to build. I understand you probably got sponsored by these guys. But if you're going to make videos for beginners please don't lead them down a path that would cost them 3 times what it would cost for a DIY 12v battery. I mean you could buy a battle born battery for $500 cheaper , have a great warranty and quality battery that you don't need to build. I have liked your other vids up until this point. I gave it a dislike because of the fact that these guys are so expensive. Just as an example. I built 3 24v 280 AH eve batteries for under $3000 with Overkill BMS. For beginners thats 24 of these cells in this video vs 4 for $1400. Sorry , I don't mean to be a debbie downer but making a beginner video and pointing them to a super expensive option is bad imo.

I agree with some of what you said. Like you said there are cheaper options out there and I do have other videos highlighting this. I'm sure people are smart enough to research before buying and if this is something they are interested in than so be it. Thank you for being honest I do appreciate it.

Please understand, the $400 cells you see on ali are rejected / used / defective cells that the manufacturer auctioned off because they could not sell them to automotive OEMs. These cells will not last and usually have issues that creep up. Already people that made packs that are less than 2 years old are seeing 30% capacity loss , IR issues and balancing problems. The certified sells are 2-3 times the cost but pass x-ray and other tests to ensure they will last. The same for BMS, there are cheap bms units which have balancing, issues, can not handle the load they claim and can ruin your cells when they fail. These options should only be explored for people that are experienced, not newbies. Battleborns are nice, but our 300AH kit is far cheaper than the 270AH they have for sale ($1400 vs $2300). Visit our channel to learn the industry, you will see the cheap comes out expensive.

@@sfkenergy All these cells come from China and they are all used cells that are sold to resellers. I'm not knocking your quality. Just your pricing. again I would get Battle borns for $800 vs $1400 for DIY. OR SoK batteries for $550.
