Hey Girl! I’m trying to find out what is the best cord to work with for outdoor plant hangers. I need something that is going to withstand the weather conditions. I just want to feel confident in a product when I sell it. It would drive me insane to sell a piece and not know whether it’s actually going to work outside or not. I’ve purchased a few things from Amazon but ended up returning it because I wasn’t happy with the plastic feel to the cord, or the stiffness of the cord. I need help! Lol

Omg I love your videos! I am not a very creative person and decided to take up a hobby and macrame was my choice. Starting small with mini project. Right now I upgraded (baby steps lol) to a yoga matt strap but I think I got the wrong rope for the project. I got the polyester but I’m doing a simple square knot and the whole thing keeps twisting. I doubled check and I am definitely not doing a 1/2 square. Do you have suggestions on what type of rope I should use for this project? Also, how you said when you first started you were clueless...That me? How do you go about finding “patterns” or instructions on how to make larger projects?

@sbarron204 жыл бұрын
Hi! Just got into macrame and this video is super helpful. I'm buying my cord online right now so I don't see the cord until it comes to me and I am a little disappointed in the quality. Do you have a preferred brand of 3mm 3-strand rope or do you have recommendations on aging the rope? I bought some yellow cord and it's really shiny and bright (like it's better used for tying your mattress to the roof on your car).

I wish I’d seen this a few days ago 😩! I ordered some very soft cotton rope on Amazon that is harder for me to work with since it’s so soft and I’m a newbie. Since I keep doing the knots over, it ends up coming apart on me. I hadn’t even considered the fact that I could unravel it on the ends when I’m done, so that’s cute. This is very informative and helpful, thank you so much.

I wanted to hear more about paracord. I’ve heard it does better for outdoor projects, but I was wondering if the knot would stay knotted and if it is hard to work with?
@ChelseaSadler6 жыл бұрын
It stays knotted! It does work better for outdoor projects, and it's just as easy to work with! The only thing is the appearance of it, it's going to look like paracord. You can use it for wall hangings or decorative pieces, of course, but I've just never found a color I'd want to work with. I was going to find some and make a chair out of it!

Hi!! I'm a beginner beginner lol and bought some 4mm cotton cording (single cord) to learn with. I found a pattern I wanted to make but it called for 3.5mm cord. I wanted to use what I had just purchased but now halfway through the pattern, I'm running out of cord and see I won't have enough to finish it. Is that because I'm using a thicker cord? What advice do u have if you have to substitute cording, when following a pattern? Thank you so much for your help!! 😊😊

Hi Chelsea. My question is how do I know how long to cut each strand in order to have enough to do my project without having to add rope? By the way, well explained, thank you!
@lizbee7264 жыл бұрын
I'm afraid to say but there is no exact way of determining how much cord you will need for your project. Some people advise cutting the lengths of cord 4 times longer than the finished length of the project. Maybe 3 might do it but it depends on the pattern ( amount of knots) some patterns use less, some use more. It also depends on the thickness of the cord you are using. Check the lengths suggested in many of the macrame projects on KZbin for a good guide. Good luck! 😂👍🙏

Congratulations for your videos, your tutorials are very clear and easy to follow. I love your work, you are indeed very talented and make beautiful and unusual pieces of art! I live in Europe but am finding it very difficult to get the material I need for my project. The best option seems to be online though it is very tricky to order something I haven't seen live. Have you ever ordered on Amazon a cord whose reference you would recommend? I want a soft, not too thick and natural rope that doesn't unravel easily, though I may make fringes. Also, for a 1m wide x 0.40m long, how much would you suggest? Thanks in advance and keep up your excellent work!
