I absolutely love your content Kelly! I’m a beginner in lifting and I noticed that my right wrist tends to get a mad at me during certain lifts. I’m sure it’s probably a form issue but I was wondering if there is anything you recommend as far as wrist wraps to help in the mean time?

I am curious about your scapula during bench. I overthink this a lot - should you scapulas be depressed and retracted? I've heard we retract to keep shoulders in a more secure position

Hi. Great video. I have a really wide foot. Do you know of a company that makes lifting shoes that are wider?

Tyr L-1 and Do-win are “wider” but not really 2E or above. Nike Metcon 9s are quite wide (2E if not more) but have a low drop. I use squat inserts but it is hard to dial in the correct height for my squat depth. I squat ATG on a good day and too high of a drop throws my snatch forward. There may be other cross-fit shoes that work with wide feet but you won’t find actual comfortable wide-ish lifting shoes.

This is interesting, as someone who has been lifting for 30 years, I was always told an arch in the back is not the correct form and can actually induce injuries.

Women have more flexibility and will arch their backs to an absurd degree, to a point where their range of motion is ridiculously short. Men rarely do this, most cannot do this anyhow. In any case, when they arch their back to such an extent, its not really a bench press or even a decline bench press, but more like a dip.

Can someone explain to me in which way to drive your legs instead of up which causes the bum to come up off the seat please?

When we say "up" we mean up the bench horizontally, not vertically up off the bench. Pretty much as if you're pushing with your feet to slide up the bench. What helped me was thinking of pushing my feet into the ground almost as if i'm doing a leg extension. It's a bit hard to explain but I hope this made sense anyway

It may be easier to do if, instead of trying to push with your legs, focus on intensely tensing up your body from your core to your toes as you bench press.

i wonder if it's to make her sound more authoritative, make the advice more dogmatic and trustworthy, regardless it is good advice for beginners parroted by all other powerlifters. She's not unique but at least she's being helpful, better than most other fitness influencers.
