It's a little difficult to master and I haven't had great luck with it on linen, but it's definitely a useful trick to have in your arsenal!

Hey, Ford! Thanks for the great tips. I’m thinking that weaving with low-contrast floss and pin this high-contrast. I appreciate people who find humour in their daily lives. I haven’t x-stitched in decades-I’m a quilter-but I recently ordered a small kit of quilts on a clothesline. X-stitch will be great option for when I’m camping! I recently subscribed to this channel, but I’m going to subscribe to yours as well. 🤖 “Danger! Danger! Will Robinson!” 😂🤣😂 Thank you, and stay well! snowy Muskoka ON 🇨🇦

Wonderful! Never understood how that isolated pin stitches work!!! Two additional thoughts... Replace these with beads secured by a thread color which you can carry. This adds additional dimension to the piece. Also, skip 'em!!!

Love the channel! I’m relatively new to cross stitch (working through the cross stitch school bookmark project). One of my biggest sources of anxiety is knowing how long each thread of floss should last (how many half-stitches can be done before turning around and completing the stitches without running out of floss too soon). It may be a super noob question, but I have no one else to ask. Please help by addressing how you approach this!

I feel like I mostly go based on instinct, but I'll see if I can suss out some tips!
@barbarahaynes-bi4hk11 ай бұрын
It's trial and error to start with! At first practise guessing when you will be halfway thru your length of thread , then after awhile you will find you can judge things quite nicely! 😊

A lot of our community members measure the thread against their forearm, up to their elbow.

Why do you stitch in the well? This is new to me.
@CaterpillarCrossStitch4 ай бұрын
It's personal preference really, but in most peoples case, it's because it's easier when running thread under stitching or stitching near the edge of the hoop.

For the modified pin stitch, should I use a 26 needle on 14 Aida cloth?
@dalmatink22311 ай бұрын
For the third method, modified pin/confetti stitch do you use a tapestry or sharp needle? Thanks.

Hey Ford, thanks for the demo. Do you work on even weave, one over one? Do you have starts and finishes for confetti stiches for those too? BTW where's Nugget?
@teresinharoberts6421Ай бұрын
How would you do that on linen rather than Aida?
@CaterpillarCrossStitchАй бұрын
Great question! We'll add that to our list of tutorials :)
@RedPandaHomebody11 ай бұрын
Does the pin stitch only work for very dark threads? It looks like it would be pretty noticeable if done with another color - like a bright red that would show just as much behind, seems like it would also show the pin stitch (or at least it would lay noticeably different than ones other stitches)? This has always been my concern about pin stitches in general.
@debbiemraz26504 ай бұрын
I am interested to know how to anchor a single strand ,then finish off that single strand. Also with a single strand how to accomplish this with a lone confetti stitch using 1 thread. If you can demonstrate this stitching just from the front of the work no flipping, then also demonstrate with flipping. Full cross, single thread as well as tent stitch, single thread and double strand. Thank you so much.

You can do a loop start with 3 stands.

Watch CCS video on 6 ways to start your thread. It's not Ford doing the video, but it's still really good! I sometimes use 3 strands and use the loop method
