Something that no one has done so far has been a dedicated video for colour grading motion cam raw or direct log footage within da Vinci resolve. So i had to find videos that show how to work with cinemadng files from a dlsr. It would be alot easier for beginners to just find a good workflow for motioncam

Best setting for Log: Video codec h264/h265 8/10 bit, color space: rec709(8bit)rec2020(10bit), Transfer function: cineon log, Don't touch chroma denoise and all the sliders, maximum bitrate 100Mbps. This will give you best LOG video with flat washed out color.

@@gilmourgasm If your transfer function is BT.709 your output video will look like regular video. But cineon log will give you flat , wash-out, desaturated video. Cineon log will give you more advance colour grading option than the BT.709 does.

Would setting Chroma denoising to %100 affect video quality? And would this help with the too much noise issue?
@AndroMatthew2 ай бұрын
It won't affect the image quality too drastically in my experience. It'll help in certain situations but not extreme lowlight/high iso.
@gilmourgasm2 ай бұрын
@@AndroMatthew I have great studio lighting to be honest, but since it only lights me as the subject with my talking head videos and the background usually is very dark with just a couple of lowlight RGB background lights, there is too much noise in those dark areas, so I thought maybe Chroma Denoising could fix that. I will give it a try with the highest settings and see how it will affect. Also, you replied to one of the comments down below and said DirectLog or RAW videos generate more noise, are there solutions to that other than Denoising in post? Thank you for your video, man! It is one of a kind and is really helpful!

Thank you for this video, what is Keyframe Interval?
@AndroMatthew7 ай бұрын
An oversimplification - but in theory, it affects the accuracy during playback/pause. Meaning, in theory, the lower the better. But it could increase file size. It has very minimal or any at all impact on image quality itself. I suggest putting in lowest if you have storage and planning to edit the video.

Is MotionCam's Direct Log different from using a log profile on mcpro24fps? Im considering buying MotionCam to try out more of the RAW features, but I'm interested this direct log feature
@AndroMatthew7 ай бұрын
It's very different in a sense that Motioncam log is based on RAW data. Mcpro24fps's log is just forced curves, the final output doesn't give you any more dynamic range.

I get how you feel. But to be fair, motioncam has improved a lot since its founding. which one is better direct log or raw ?
@mrinalrajtirkey86292 ай бұрын
I think Log is more practical, as you can preview it directly after shooting and uses comparatively less space than RAW. RAW on the other hand requires more processing to finally preview the footage and uses much larger chunk of storage
@AndroMatthew2 ай бұрын
It depends on your needs, for day to day, directlog is definitely the way to go. But on more serious shoots, RAW retains the most data.

Is there any app on android that can grade this log footage? Video through your above beginners settings looks kinda muted.... 🙂
@AndroMatthew5 ай бұрын
Log footage looks mute to be fair, but there is a feature within the app to directly record with a LUT. Or record in RAW and export your footage with a LUT.
@jungleboy17 ай бұрын
Question for directlog, If i am using prores and set to MCRAWLOG should i be converting it to Rec 709 or can i just apply LUTS after importing it to PremPro? People keep saying generally to convert to rec 709 prior to colour grading. Thanks.
@AndroMatthew7 ай бұрын
Premiere Pro should be converting it to rec709 by default, but it's a good practice to check. If you're planning to export the final video in rec709, then grading in rec709 is the way to go. For example, I graded in rec2020 once and when I exported to rec709 everything looked overexposed.
@jungleboy17 ай бұрын
@@AndroMatthew i might need more guidance its been 8 years since i last used premiere pro. When i import the footage it feels like its in some log format already and not rec 709 converted, everything is desaturated. I apply a LUT and it just looks massively out of place as if its oversaturated.... I may need to reshoot and change settings, i had it default to 75mbps max bit rate. I will try 160mbps as thats the max reported on my S23 Ultra.

Hey man. Use chroma denoising. Also, expose with ETTR. Finally, RAW stream tends to be more noiser because the ISP doesn't clean up the details. Consider noise reduction on your pc if you have one.
