Can you edit the footage with phone based editing apps like CapCut
@khalilhines50658 ай бұрын
@sidneyani2584 good question. It honestly depends. Forgive my ignorance as I'm still new to this but currently I'm using mcpro24fps to shoot footage. When importing to capcut, it compresses the footage. Even though the footage looks great (especially of u shoot at a higher bitrate), it'll take the quality from 4032x3024 to 2880x something.. so while it looks great there's still alot of heavy compression. I'd assume it'd treat raw footage the same

On the download page in the app store, you can opt into being a beta tester, and that's what I recommend. It depends on the shooting mode and device that you're using! HEVC 8-bit with a lower bit rate is going to be the easiest for devices to handle

In your opinion, is Motioncam Pro better than Videography Pro and Photography Pro (sony apps)?
@ShibiChan4 ай бұрын
I think it's a yes and no at the moment. I think they're targeted a little differently. For video, for actual cinematographers, MotionCam is by far better. But for people who do more quick turnaround, KZbin, things like I do, the pro app is likely better. MC has yet to implement any sort of more robust AF features like face tracking. The UI is also a bit less refined in MC in my opinion. The difference is, that MC is a single guy, and he's already done this much. He has to keep multiple different brands and levels of device in mind as well. Sony for sure has more than 1 person working on it, and only has to focus on a few devices. So I think with time, MC will loom over all OEM options. Just a matter of time. For photography I like MC because it offers things like raw video streams, which allows you to record 1-2 seconds of video, and you can pull true raw frames from it. This is useful for tons of reasons, like dynamic scenes or panning. It's literally the equivalent of 30fps raw shooting. But again, less robust AF. MC also offers temporal noise reduction, so it can use frames before and after the one you choose to help mitigate noise. You can also apply LUTs in-app to speed up editing. But Sony's apps are more user friendly at the moment in terms of UI. This comment is the least cohesive thing I've written all month, but I hope this answers it lol

In 5 or 10 years we know phone cam will be even better so better results with motioncam, the quality will keep getting better with the app since cams in phone will keep upgrading you already know motioncam results will keep getting better since phone cams will keep upgrading. Since motion has been out, newer phones have come out that show a difference from an earlier series model. S25 is coming that will be sharper and clearer than S24,S24 is sharper and clearer than S22 and S20,The model I have s20fe is less sharper and less clear than S22-24. Just imagine how much more detail the S40-50 will have using a monster program like Motioncam. I'm glad to witness history. To me motion when compared to stock or any other phone cam app looks like dslr quality compared to a phone cam

I tried the app on the sony Xperia 1 mark 4. It mostly crashes when try to snap a pic. Can this app take bracketed photos of different exposures and merde them into one HDR or its just about raw and prores video?
@ShibiChan11 ай бұрын
I think Xperia tend to face more issues than most other devices, thanks to a lot of issues on Sony's end, sadly. It doesn't have a built-in bracketing mode or HDR merge mode either. I would think Sony would natively have this in its "pro" apps, however it doesn't either

I think in the case of Sony Xperia, you're better off sticking with the native apps. Things like eye tracking aren't supported. The biggest caveat being that Sony embeds vignette correction in their raws, so if you're doing things like astro, MotionCam may be a better option

I did more tests this morning compared to 400mb to 1200 mb, and the difference is very small; a person needs to zoom in and nitpick to see the difference, so I would say 400 mb is the max at which it shows a good jump from 230 mb, so I suggest a person stick to 400mb. directlog
