What size bolt is the frame rail bolts. I know you said 16mm but what thread size

Some Tiguan models have the weld nuts installed in the vehicle frame, some do not. If it DOES have the weld nuts, the existing M10-1.5x40mm hardware would be used. If the weld nuts are NOT there, you'd use the 7/16-14x1-1/2 hardware that is included with the hitch. I’m looking to attach a trailer hitch that can pull a small trailer that fits a walk behind mower. Does this hitch i particular have attachments for this type of trailer? Or do i need to look into other trailers?

I have Tiguan2020 model , but I don’t have nuts in as the video , only empty holes how i know if it fits for my car or not ?

The 2020 Volkswagen Tiguans that we have installed this hitch on have all had the hardware on the sides of the frame rail that is removed and reused for the installation of this hitch. www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch/Curt/C12177.html

My VW Tiguan 2021 doesn't have the nuts at the sides, only empty holes. Where could I get those nuts?

Is it absolutely necessary to lower the exhaust or was that done just to make things easier? Also, what was the torque wrench set to?

You will not be able to lift the hitch into place without lowering the exhaust. It's not too bad a job to lower it. The torque specs can be found in the installation instructions on our product page. www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch/Curt/C12177.html

etrailer.com Thank you guys for the great video. I was able to do it in 35 minutes, even while using the car’s stock jack. Super easy installation and it looks awesome!
