My mom and dad grew up poor worked hard and had a lot of money in the bank when they died a nice house nice cars etc. after my mom died my dad was so sad and he looked around and said you work all your life to get stuff then you work to maintain your stuff and then in the end the stuff dosen't matter. THAT changed how I live my life I have no debt i only keep what i use and life is peaceful and we look for experiences. We moved to france and travel :) la vie est belle

Robin Harris I still remember my father telling me how we can't take anything or anyone with us when we leave this world. we were standing in our kitchen and he pointed out numerous things including the cat, his beer cooler, material objects etc etc. may not sound like a profound moment, but it was for me. I was probably 16. he also gave me a small box as a gift once and said I could fit my most valued things in that box for the rest of my life. didn't realize it at the time but now I see he intended that box to be empty. material objects are just things. our experiences and memories are what counts. I've had a difficult relationship with materialism on and off as I've gotten older, but I think I have finally realized the kind of freedom that comes with living simply.

I started minimizing my friends lol! no seriously, now I value relationships that give me joy, no matter how far apart from each other we are. No longer do I stress about being accepted in this new country (I just recently moved to the US a few years back. I am from the Philippines) but I cherish the ones that I had even though we are far apart. I give them time when they call, I value their messages, send them surprise cards every so often. That, brings me joy.

In the past I was a very organized girl and I loved to clean. I notice a great change in my behavior when I got divorce after two years of marriage, I started to accumulate things, to buy more, to collect things from the trash of others, at some point my spaces were saturated of all kinds of things. Then I saw a documentary in which they commented how traumatic and shocking experiences of losses of some kind made us take strange behaviors and one of those was the tendency to accumulate to fill emotional voids. It took me time, but now I know that Minimalism is the answer, so will clean my spaces, my mind and my heart to take control of my life again... ;)

In this world full of people who feel like they're critics, I am so glad to have found your chanel becuase you don't seem pretencious or unreal. In my journey to be a minimalistic, I hace found people who always says "you're not", "you don't know anything", or they always talk about a certain number of things or that everything has to be B&W, but you inspire people to be themselves and create their own concept about minimalism and that it is not about decorating b&w all your house but keeping and living whit all those things that make you feel happy. once again thank you so much for all your videos and tips, God bless you ❤

Thank you so very much for the kind words, Leidi. I'm happy you've received the message this way. It's very true and I feel that way with many things: minimalism, a vegan/plant-based diet, work, travel, hobbies - always do it in the way that feels best to you. I don't mind labelling things because it acts as a guide, but the label shouldn't serve as a rule-book. Sending plenty of love ❤

+Pick Up Limes, I watched your vegan story back when I was discovering a plant-based diet. Your peaceful authenticity gave me the freedom to transition as my own self and about two months later I am fully plant-based making beautiful discoveries along the way and simply being happy.

This is so interesting. I have been 'minimalising' for a few years to the point where I managed to move to Egypt. I only keep what I am using and love. I can Sea the Red Sea, the sunrise and sunsets. I have become more aware of everything. I made a balcony garden - I collect shells on the beach and make things. I do work but my work is flexible and online. I never knew there were other minimalists out there! It's great! I began My whole food plant based diet today too. (And I joined your mailing list). Thanks so much for your positive encouragement!

My sentiments exactly. I've been looking around on KZbin regarding minimalism for quite a while and couldn't find the right channel that resonates my inner peace. Until a year ago I found Jenny Mustard and fell in love with her almost immediately! Her channel is equally soothing and friendly. I followed Jenny first for quite a some time and then later on KZbin recommended me Pick Up Lime. Now I love both of them! And I'm surprised to have found out that Pick Up Limes (I mean Sadia? Not sure how to spell her name) likes Jenny Mustard too! Both of them are definitely my spirit animals. ❤️

You bring so much peace in your videos that I just found myself in minimalism. Because of you, not by any other youtuber or social media. Since I know myself, I always loved to declutter, but for my mother (who is an accumulator) I just liked to throw things away and not value the money she spent to buy it all. I grew up watching my mother buy lots of cheap things instead of an expensive thing, but good quality, and I've always been the opposite. I have always preferred to have one good bag than many bags of inferior quality. As everyone around me is not minimalistic, I thought I was different. Thanks to you I discovered the blameless side of getting rid of things and having few clothes, for example. thank you so much! I wait every minute for your videos. Lots of love xo

That’s it, that’s what inspires me in your video and your whole philosophy - it’s your journey, make your rules, don’t listen to anybody, start slow - one doesn’t frequently hears this from guru of any kind. Hi Sadia! Thank you so much for such a wonderful video, I've recently found your channel and I really enjoy it! All of your words and tips are so true! I'm a minimalist myself - I love being focused on my life and travel, not on the material things. But as you said, you don't have to be too extreme about it. Sometimes it's hard for me being "fully minimalist" ( I mean my mind sometimes whispers it to me) due to my job - I'm a fashion photographer, stylist and graphic designer. So, yes, - I have lots of things because of it: my camera & photographic equipment, make-up (sometimes I do it for the shoots), pencils and paints for drawing, basic clothing for styling models and etc. When I see all of these things, sometimes I get a little bit sad, because i want it to be more compact & take less things with me when I travel. But I realize that having all that is necessary for me, for my job, it doesn't make me less minimalist bor a bad person. Basically, what I'd like to say is that you've perfectly described the concept of minimalism. Thank you again and please stay such a kind and inspiring person ( I may not know you in a real life but I can see the positive energy you share). Lots of love
@PickUpLimes7 жыл бұрын
Aw, Tatiana this was such a pleasure to read. Thank you so much for everything you shared. It can be hard in today's society; we all want so much to belong to a community or belief-system that's bigger than ourselves. So when we don't follow the "rules" we feel like we've failed... and my own experience with minimalism at times as been much like yours. But there's a much-needed freedom that comes from knowing we make up our own guidelines... the labels are just there to help guide us. So wishing you all the success with your fashion photography! And many thanks for the kind words ❤ Much love ~S

I really think our words are powerful. Start to say you can and will, and it will happen. It sounds silly, and you might not even believe yourself when you say it... but eventually you will. Another thing I always mention is: do what feels best to you. Don't try to do everything at once if that makes you panic. Pick one area, maybe starting with the easiest first, and minimize there if you can. Take breaks in between so you can make sure it stays that way (decluttered), before trying to minimize another area. Hope this helps. Good luck! ❤

Since i started to live by my own in a flat, i’m doing my best to live minimalistic, I won’t lie, is not easy at the beginning but i’m in the process. My main reason: when i was a child we used to move out a lot since we didn’t have a house, every time we had to carry so many stuff, it was exhausting and stressful, I promised myself that if i ever have the chance to have my own place, I would only take the necessary with me so i can feel free to move out easily

Love your videos so much. When I started to watch you last year I desired to be more minimal, eat better and be more conscious of what I do and why I do it. But I wasn’t quite ready. I’ve been discouraged and have felt like “oh well this is who I am”. (Messy, disorganized, indulger of all things and a bad steward) but today I can say that with the help of God, my friends, and your (and a couple other people’s) videos I’m making amazing progress. I feel incredible! It took going to LA for summer vacay and only having what was in my Air bnb and what was in my carry-on to realize and I did just fine without all that junk. I survived! lol Getting ready was a breeze, I was more productive and was able to focus on making memories and being more present! That changed everything and now I’m ruthlessly decluttering before I move in 2 weeks and it’s going great! Just wanted to say thank you, hope you’re doing well! And keep the videos coming! Hugs from Delaware, USA! 💖

Hi, PUL! I’ve always wanted to be a minimalist since 2013 but then go back to my old ways and then go back to being a minimalist and then on to my old ways again of consuming, consuming, consuming. But now, I’m really going to stick with it this time and that is because of you, PUL and 5 other minimalist vloggers here on KZbin. And I know that I will succeed this time because I planned everything from the very start. My minimalism journey started with my skin care because I really wanted to only use products that don’t contain harsh chemicals. And I hate travelling with a big bag of toiletries. I wanted to find an all-in-one product that cleans my hair, body, face and private parts. Also an all-in-one product that moisturizes my hair, body, hands, face and private parts. And in the past, I tried that no-poo trend and it was terrible! But now I know the secret! I haven’t shampooed my hair for 3 days now and it just really depends on what you eat. Before, if I don’t shampoo, I’ll get dandruff all over my scalp. But now that I’m on this diet (I call it the “Jenny Ong Berdos diet”), I don’t have dry and itchy scalp anymore. That’s why my minimalism journey is way easier this time around. I’m so happy and excited for my newly-launched KZbin channel which I literally just posted my first video into, because I want to share my experience and my journey with everyone. Thank you so much, PUL! Please check out how I did on my first try and let me know what you think. Thanks, again! :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2PXk6OgpaaYsKM

film stars have an unlimited budget so to speak to maintain their looks from all angles - surgery, fillers, nutritionists and trainers, spa treatments, etc. for a common person to achieve that is far more difficult. it can be done but common people have stressful lives with less disposable time and income. sadia is in her 30s and to maintain the body she had as a teenager is the best thing she has done for her looks and gratitude as she says in the video.

I am a mimilist by nature and only discovered after a while the money I had saved, this went on for most of my life and people always saying where do you get the money from to travel and in the end I got tired of having to explain!! I look at goods in shops etc but never induced to purchase anything, not really interested in material things, I take my hat off to everyone that is not materialistic, believe me it saves money and actually improves your lifestyle the rewards are enormous for me anyway ps these videos are very inspiring I really enjoy them!!

sdelizabeth Pick up limes: When you approach someone you like and starts dropping limes and you try to pick them up but the limes keep slipping out of your hands and you look ridiculous. After a moment you give up, look at your crush and say "I'm really bad a pick-up limes."

I read the description box. :) I joined for your nutrition videos, but I love minimalism also, so this is perfect. In the process of paring down household things. My own personal belongings are few and well loved. I've un-followed social media pages, and I no longer spend free time in shopping centres/malls. They make me feel unhappy and unsatisfied. I've taken up running and audio books/podcasts. This is great!

It doesn’t work WHEN you have asian parents 🙃

True that!! But the Japanese? Buddhists? Kung-fu monks? Hindu monks? Minimalism was kinda "invented" in Asia two thousand years ago as a lifestyle choice :) We've come far from all that, and not in a good way!

Your channel is inspiring! I've been feeling that I have too much stuffs I dont actually use, but too afraid to let them go, thinking I might need any of them someday. Though for once I lost one of them, nothibg really happenned, bcs I dont need it anyway. This channel has confirmed it, I began to donate things or hand them over to recyclers. Now I'm so happy to have more empty space in my room - just to leave them empty.
