This is a goal I have, using some of my handspun sturdier wools and replacing some of my rugs with handmade ones. I just ordered a 32" kromski Harp! I have been using a handmade modified backstrap/rigid heddle loom and wanted something that I didn't have to attach to a sturdy object so I could go different places with my loom. I am so excited to get my new loom!!! I have loved your videos to help me learn how to weave better and look forward to attempting to do new and interesting things with my new loom.

Am I alone in seeing 2 rows of flowers beneath your row of nutcracker soldiers at your video start? Beautiful weaving! Thank you!

I have just discovered your videos. I am thrilled to see all that can be done on my rigid heddle loom! I thought I had to use the floor loom for designs, but you very clearly and succinctly demonstrate how that is not the case. You are a very good instructor. Thank you for taking the time to share what you know.

As a rule I love your videos however this one not so much. The reason being I could not see the positions of the sticks. people like me must see the project in it's entirety to accurately understand the process.

I had the same problem, I’m new to weaving. But since I speak Spanish and English KZbin recommends both types of information about this. I found this video: Krokbragd. Como preparar telar de liso rígido by Telaradas, which explains how to prepare the loom, and has a second video on different uses; such as columns, waves and flowers. It’s very short and easy to understand. Hope this helps anyone that hasn’t yet understood 😊

Gee I already know how to pass the shuttle through the sheds. I was hoping to learn how to use pick up sticks. This weaving is pretty but I learned nothing about how to use the pick up sticks.

wonderful. I have a comb loom without pedals. Is it possible to also make this fabric? I wait for an answer. Thank you. I am from Argentina. Alicia
@KellyCasanova4 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what a comb loom is? This was done on a rigid heddle loom. It has 2 shafts and the pick up stick makes an extra shaft. As long as you can make 3 shafts and your loom has good tension, you can weave krokbragd.

Kelly, I am puzzled how the weft yarns cover your warp yarns when the weft goes UNDER so many threads. I am getting warp threads showing even though am packing tightly. Thank you for your generous videos.
@KellyCasanova3 жыл бұрын
Jennifer, if you're getting warp threads showing it will be either one or both of these two things: Sett and warp yarn. The sett needs to be far enough apart and the warp yarn an appropriate weight so that the weft can travel over and under all those warp threads but still have room to settle into place and cover the warp. Have you seen my new Krokbragd 101 course? You may benefit from taking that to iron out the issues you're having: kelly-casanova-weaving-lessons.teachable.com/p/krokbragd-101/?preview=logged_out

Kelly, I am going to be setting up to do this on a four-harness floor loom, and would like to know what weight yarn you're using and how many ends per inch I should allow for that weight. This will help me figure out what to do if I step down to a finer thread. Could you please supply some details? Thanks!
@KellyCasanova5 жыл бұрын
I used light worsted/dk weight wool for this sample, on a 7.5 dent reed.
@DeForestRanger5 жыл бұрын
@@KellyCasanova Thank you! That gives me an idea of how widely spaced the warp needs to be in order to be able to beat the weft to cover it. I can hardly wait to get started! I'd use my rigid heddle, but due to a shoulder injury, I can only work on it for a few minutes at a time. Beating is fine, but the upward motion of raising the heddle takes its toll.

Hi Kelly, Thank you for your great video's. But I would like to know how krokbragd looks on the back side? When I try to do krokbragd there are loops of warpthreads visible. In other words there is a front- and a back side of the weaving. Am I correct?
@KellyCasanova7 жыл бұрын
My krokbragd looks different, but just as cool on the back. The warp is not really visible. I can do a short video to show how the back looks if that would help you?
@hanstheadevries84167 жыл бұрын
Thanks Kelly, I think that would help. Could you please also show in which shed my shuttle has to go? I can see 3 sheds appearing in front (my side of the heddle) when I rase my pickup stick/heddle rod forward and up. Or should it not be up? I'm confused and don't seem to understand. Excuse me for any mistakes in my English, I'm Dutch :)

Hi Dianne, I'm sorry, it's a while since I made this video and I don't remember how many ends I had warped. But however many ends you have, or how wide your warp is, just follow the pickup sequence listed and it will work :)
