I love what you said about not having the project being premeditated. That’s my way of weaving, I don’t think I have ever made a project as is with the pattern 😂. Can’t do it! Your wonderful explanation and teaching style would definitely be a temptation to move to Canada! I’m ready to do Krokbragd and just loved your video, thanks again dear!!

Custom art framer here! I would sew it into a mat board. Use strong fishing line to go between the stitches and be “invisible”. Then use a traditional cut mat with foam core board between the mounting mat and the traditional mat to hold the glass off the textile and create additional dimension in the frame!

Absolutely beautiful work! This technique is so similar to tapestry that mounting your piece like a tapestry should work great. Rebecca Mezoff is the go-to person for this, she's amazing. I'd suggest getting a Damascus edge on that big one quick before it loses integrity! Thank you for Take Back Fridays!

Thank you so much Eric! Yes, I think I originally started off with this linen warp and I was trying to do “meet & separate” tapestry-style to make a runner, but I didn’t like what I was getting, so I pulled it all out and wove the coasters instead. I follow Rebecca Mezoff as well! She’s awesome and super inspiring. And yes, I totally need to sit down and do some finishing. Thanks for watching!

For sure!! Rigid heddle looms are incredibly versatile. If I can weave krokbragd on a frame loom with string heddles and a regular fork for a beater… then a rigid heddle is a great step up from there! Hahaha :)

I too have fallen in love with Krokbragd thanks to Angie and Debby. I finished a larger rug in the spring, based on a gorgeous pattern I found from Handwoven, online. (I posted a pic in the Krokbragd forum). Thank you for bringing Debby in for us. She answered every question I had left over from my novice venture into Krokbragd! I LOVED your Krokbragd video, especially your description of your thought processes, and how you started experimenting with more basic looms before you started with the floor loom, and also the way you separated your warp into 3 sections so you could try different color patterns. I liked your BACK side better than the front, also! Ha ha! You never know with weaving, so you? I took a Krokbradg class with Tom Knisely, but came home and put that (Wolf Pup) loom to the side, and now I am wanting to go back to it, and I had forgotten how to weave it. You inspired me!

Thank you so much!! YES I’ve been in love with Angie Parker’s work and also Petra Marciniak (@petramarcin on instagram). Both weavers have distinct and gorgeous colour sense. I’m sure you could use cotton for weft… it would just need to be sett in a way to allow those three weft picks to nest together. Even Angie’s work has metallic yarn and different kinds of yarns mixed into the same cloth. So lovely. And yes, Debbie’s second book was just released a couple months ago :)

Never tried Krokbragd, but have done a couple of rugs using the similar Scandinavian technique called Flesberg (I think). The possibilities for the combinations of patterns and colours are infinite and like you, it took me a lot of experimentation to figure out how to get what I wanted. I ended up completely ignoring my messy selvedges, a temple greatly helped and floating selvedges would have been good too. Top tip for anyone on a 4 shaft counterbalance loom - don't try and spread the threading over 4 shafts, just use the empty shaft to balance the tie up.

@@_willgrimm_ That's amazing that you quilt with handwoven fabric!! I just acquired a 54-year old Fanny for home because I loved the Mira so much and wanted to weave at home (as well as at the studio). I'll definitely keep doing counterbalance videos... I love these looms and how they work so beautifully and quietly. My plan is to take the old loom apart in the summertime to refresh/revitalize it. Yes you can reverse it in the sense of swap back and front in stripes by the same way you would double weave where the bottom has to be worked upside down. So instead of lifting 2 and 3 to make that 1 have weft over it. You would lift 3 so its the other way round
