This video applies copper foil to the glass pieces in the beginner stained glass project. Gives you a different camera angle to see how the foil is applied than the 4A video.

Good 👍explanation of where to grind a piece to make it fit. Not all instructors are good at a explaining how to decide what point to grind at depending on the fit. You might have a gap in one place but it might be because it needs to be ground on another side to slide the piece in place.

What is the manufacturer and model of the table foiler used in the video? Your videos are excellent teaching tools for the beginner. You did a wonderful job on each of them. Thank you for taking the time to make them.

I've watched videos where the instructor insists that all edges must be ground , in order for the foil to stick better. What is your thought on that? I love your videos. Informative , and not cluttered with music and chatter. I like your straightforward style!

Foil sticks better if edges are ground. However, you don't have to grind everything. You want to make sure your glass is clean and dry, and that you have good quality foil. If the foil sticks, there is no reason to grind the edges. Especially straight edges cut with a straight edge cutter. Grinding just ruins the straightness. If I'm making a suncatcher or snowflake (that won't be framed) with a lot of exposed outer edges, then I make sure those exposed edges are ground so the foil sticks really well. Then when you tin (put on a light coating of solder) on the outside edges, make sure you turn you r iron temp down by 50% so the heat from the iron doesn't melt the sticky backing holding the foil on.

What is that tool you used to foil faster? Is there a purpose of cutting off the excess at the beginning of when you foil it on that tool instead of using it?? Does the edge not stick?

I think you are talking about the Table Foiler. I cut the beginning off that hangs over the edge, because the foil is not pushed onto the glass and not centered on the glass.

Did you clean off the glass before you installed the foil? If so, what do you use, alchohol? I really like your detailed and informative videos. Do you sell kits? New subscriber from Washington State 😃

I do not clean the glass off, because I dry it well after grinding. However, if you don't dry the glass well enough, the grinder water will dry on the glass and you will see a powdery look. In this case, I would clean the glass with Windex. I can sell you a materials kit for $70 + shipping. This would not include the flux as it is a hazardous material to ship. It would include the pattern, pattern transparencies, and dura-lar to waterproof pattern, but would not include a jig. I would have to calculate the costs for the jig and the cost of packaging it if you would also like the jig.

Do you recommend always foiling the glass?

Yes for flat panels or lamps. Some suncatchers are stronger with hobby came ("U" shaped lead came), and lead holds up better for outdoor projects.
