How do I get my new material over to UE4 now?
@JeremySeiner
@JeremySeiner 3 жыл бұрын
@@nightdragon9249 you can export the maps with the wrench icon above the graph view and drag them into the content browser in UE4. Then you can drag the maps from the content browser into a new material graph and hook them up to the proper inputs.

The only issue I have is when adding the Paraboloid Tile Sampler for the 'breaking up bricks' there is little circles appearing on my bricks when blended in with the existing texture... Otherwise though, fantastic tutorials!

Wow. This is fantastic! IS it this amount of work involved in making a simple brick texture? Or you went for finer details and made it this much?
@JeremySeiner
@JeremySeiner 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! ☺️ I think the actual process goes a lot more quickly. I wanted to go into a lot of detail in explaining the reasoning and steps behind everything. However much like any artwork, there’s always more to do to push the detail so I suppose it could be as simple or as complex as you’d like it to be. Once all of the work is done however, you can spend a fraction of the time creating a random variation of the brick with the random seed, or change the brick size very quickly.

is there a specific way to export it to painter? I tried just publishing the sbsar file and dropping it in, but while the thumbnail looks correct any time I put it on an object the vertical gout appears to be missing
@JeremySeiner
@JeremySeiner 3 жыл бұрын
Hmm I’ve experienced this too. Maybe try fiddling with the displacement and tessellation properties in Painter? You could also try exporting the outputs as bitmaps by going to the wrench icon above the graph and exporting them from there. You could then bring in the maps and assign them to the proper channels in a new fill layer in Painter.

21:35 at this point I was so annoyed with the tile sampler giving a strange sun reflection for the "Reshape Bricks". I don't know why, I was annoyed but later when I continued watching your tutorial, all of that is gone and its now reflecting perfectly after the "Surface Noise" was added. Though, the tutorial is amazing, thank you ;)
@JeremySeiner
@JeremySeiner 3 жыл бұрын
Jonas Virsila I completely understand. =) It’s really great how adding small bits of surface noise can not only break up the texture from straight on, but also the reflection and roughness from an angle. Thanks for watching!

@@JeremySeiner is there away to prevent that to happen in the future? Is there a setting for it? Cause there was a similar thing with Grout part. :) and sorry for asking again.
@JeremySeiner
@JeremySeiner 3 жыл бұрын
No problem at all! To reduce the reflection “aka increase the roughness” as you work, you can go to the Uniform Color node that is connected to the “Roughness” output on the right of the graph and increase the slider or bring it further towards right. This will bring down the reflection. You can then adjust it as you go. You can also blend in masks into this output to further refine and specify where you’d like these types of reflections to occur or not occur. Hope that makes sense? Let me know if you have any other questions. =)

Nice tutorial, but how can I connect it to the outputs for export? 😅
@JeremySeiner
@JeremySeiner 3 жыл бұрын
Great question haha if you have them connected to the nodes on the far right and can see everything displaying correctly in the 3D view, go to the wrench 🔧 icon above the graph and choose to export those outputs as images/bitmaps. You can also right click the package “not the graph” in the explorer tab and choose to export as an “sbsar” file for programs that use the substance plugin. 😊 Hope this helps!
